OK, I have decided to buy the AEM Brute Force HD in the Powder Coat finish. I found it at Diesel Power Chips: Diesel Power Modules & Diesel Performance Products for $370 and wondering if anyone has purchased from here before and how their experience was. If anyone wants to comment on the AEM, please feel free. I chose this one mostly because it is not supposed to affect warranty and because of the no oil filter. I hope this is on the right part of the site. If not, sorry, still finding my way around...

Well, where do I start. I would advise in doing something else in airflow or density before going with an intake---preturbo. I am not saying that the AEM won't do any good, but, you won't notice any big change until other changes are made. If you are looking for more horsepower, more (or different) fueling is needed. Depending on how far you go, you may get better mileage. I know from personal experience diablosport powerpuck is a good buy, not much for improving mileage for me, but, you can tell the 50 horsepower hits the ground. If you are more interested in EGT's and power is secondary, there are a number of things you could do, including the intake (it has been proven to lower). I will say that the more power you want, the more you want to look at exhaust, before and after the turbo, and the intake arc of the manifold. I hope I have not confused you w/the turnaround I have given you. I will tell you that the diablosport is about as much as the aem and is at least as easy to install. I am not trying to pull you away from aem (i personally have a lot of belief in their product--because i own 2 of them on my truck and honda), but, you will notice it does more for you after you add either more fuel or more airflow.

I don't think I would worry about an oiled filter giving you warranty issues. It would take a pretty anal dealer as well as some sort of bizzare failure to be able to even begin to blame the filter.

Second, I completely agree that just adding a cold air intake system isn't going to do much if anything. I had ordered a CAI and a replacement high flow air intake horn. The air horn came first so I installed it with my stock airbox. The change was HUGE, way better spool up, seat of the pants power increase, and signifigantly lower EGTs. This was with the stock airbox/tube still in place. There is way more restriction in that factory air horn than in the actual air intake system IMO. I added the CAI system the next day and was truely a little disappointed in the lack of improvement, though I have a much more audible turbo whistle now:)

I also agree that pretty much any of the airflow improvements are unnecessary until you commit to adding fuel via a downloader or a box. It is a slippery slope I know, this is the first of my five CTDs I have done it with. I stayed pretty mild but am happy I made the changes as the truck is way more fun to drive modded.

Good Luck

What year is your truck?

$370. 00 is too much for the Brute Force, If you do a search on Google, you can find powder coated AEM Workhorse systems for around $300. 00, free shipping.

I did not like the air filter it came with (it is huge), it all but eliminated my turbo whistle. I am not saying it did not flow well, it just silenced my turbo.

I replaced it with an Amsoil 4510, whistle back!

I like the PSM intakes. Work well and make sense how they pull cooler air and retain the factory airbox. I used the Amsoil EAA filter and the entire system works pretty well. Scotty

Have AEM Brute Force on my 04. 5 and it works great! Also second the use of the amsoil filter. Have had no issues with it and it sounds great!:D
