Hey guys.

I'm considering an 01 2500 4x4 quad cab to replace the 94 in my sig. It currently has 245k on it and is in pretty good shape as far as I can tell. It has an edge juice with attitude monitor on it and a replacement lp that is putting out 16 to 15 psi according to the attitude monitor. The truck is leather and loaded and the only thing that doesn't work are the power door locks. When you hit the door switch or button on the keyless entry it makes a clicking sound that sounds like its coming from a relay under the dash but the locks don't move,is this an expensive repair?I have been friends with the owner of the truck for many years and he has kept up with the maintenece and only drives the truck on level 1 on the juice. It got a new factory trans at 160k and has only had the edge on for about 10k. Will the trans be happy on level one, which is a 40hp setting? I believe he will be looking to get about $10k for it,does it sound like a good deal? One more thing,it is still on the original VP,am I asking for trouble here?

Did you check for codes?

You are usually okay on the power side if you stay under 60-80 hp or so for the transmission. Not sure on the locks.

for 10k i wouldnt sweat the locks. sounds minor. i would plan for the worst with the vp44, just to be safe. a truck with that many miles will need a few things but youll be way ahead vs. buying new.

thanks guys,

It seemed like the consensus for the trans was sudden death after power mods,at least thats what I got from the search.

I am so Jealous of southern rigs.
I'd love to find a clean rust free running 2nd gen for 10K...

The best part of my truck body is now the inside of my Linex'd bed. . :(

locks are an easy fix - had mine done (passenger side) a few months ago - even at the local dodge house it was less than $ 100. If they put a stock transmission back in with the stock torque converter I'd start saving for replacements. You'd best plan on a VP44 soon. Price seems fair.
