If the oil complies with CJ-4 specs, then it is CJ-4 oil.

I'm looking at my bottle right now and it says that the oil is CI-4 Plus in the lower half of the SAE "donut" and beside that it says "Exceeds API Services CJ-4, CI-4, CH-4, CF/SL"

That leads me to believe that it's a CI-4 oil that meets the specs of CJ-4. I would think that they would put CJ-4 in the donut if it was a CJ-4 oil.

Splittin' hairs - I know...

Actually no, the MOPAR HD premium oil does NOT appear to be THe Valvoline PB as everyone thinks! I sent in a virgin Sample of the oil and based on the additive package , it is not the PB.

"Before I turned the key, I telephoned my local Cummins distributor to have him check his stock of Cummins Valvoline Premium Blue, 15W40. He confirmed what I found on a gallon jug purchased last Friday at Auto Zone. Very discreetly, "CJ" markings preceeded the CI at the top of the API donut. Oddly, the CI-4 plus mark was prevalently displayed at the donut. The part number (VV70509) for the jug did not change. Is this the same lube oil that did so well in the Issue 56 and 57 tests? We will find out as a sample was sent to the lab on July 11, 2007.

From the front page of the website a few weeks back.

I've got 18 gallons of the old stuff, so whether or not the new stuff is good enough or not, I'll be running the old stuff for a while. Delo 400 it is.

Valvoline does make that oil. You can only get it in 5gal. cans part #591839 it can be orded at NAPA. IT is called Premium Blue Classic

5 gallon Premium Blue pic

I couldn't find any retailers around Indianapolis who would order Premum Blue Classic. However, there is a Valvoline corporate terminal in Indy, and I ordered a 5 gallon bucket directly from Valvoline. Because oil can't be shipped through normal parcel delivery services, we had to work out a drop & pick-up arrangement with a local tire shop.

I wonder if they're custom-filling each bucket... the label printer Valvoline used has some issues.

It was around $50 for the 5 gallon bucket. Time will tell if I feel like going through the hassle to special-order it again.

If I did it right, a photo of the bucket should be attached... .

Good Luck

Valvoline has CJ oil. Valvoline came out with premium blue classic Napa Auto parts carries it. It is also on Amazon.comOo.
