i'm installing a Westech boost/egt gauge on the single gauge mopar pillar cover. 2007

i installed several gauges on my last truck, 98. 5, so i don't have issues with drilling into the manifold, routing lines, etc... but the silly thing that throws me is a simple thing --How do you pop the plate out of the dash that contains the light switch/dimmer??? or is there a better place to tap into the dimmer wire?

thanks for the help.

I have experience with this and posted this last year. No need to tear apart the dash. You'll need to go to dodge.com/bodybuilder to get the wiring diagram (just in case they changed it, very possible). Maybe a TDR member with a 2007 will help out. The dash hardware is probably be the same. A search on "dimmer switch" will link you to a lot of posts.

Removing the dash trim panel on the 06 is not necessary. There is a triangular shaped side access cover on the driver side of dash. Door must be open. Panel just pries off. Dimmer harness is right there, but you cannot access the pin connections to test them. There are two (2) orange wires with brown tracer, same as 05, but pin number has changed (#2 I think). Use a multimeter with a sharp probe or gently slice off a little bit of insulation with pen knife. 50/50 shot. Complete the circuit to ground. Headlights on. I got the wrong one at first: Rotating dimmer read inverse voltage (about 1. 5 to 5). This one goes to a lamp circuit. The other one, from the resistor bank, is the correct one. Rotating the dimmer reads 12 volts to 2 volts. There are a couple of convenient philips screws there for your ground connection.
