First off - The kit from Grand rock pipes company is the best IMO - and the cheapest cost wise. BUT many people are selling them and at VERY different prices. So please shop around...

second - with my mitre cut stacks, getting soot all over the bed after a rain is certain. Is a pain? yes. But worth the sound and look (which answers your last question)

I've got some Grand Rock 5" mitres, along with soot specks all down the sides of my bed and the top of my toolbox. I think it adds "character" ;-)
They are loud, compared to stock, but I think it was worth it for the look, and besides, I'm already half deaf... . a little more noise exposure can't hurt. Roll up the windows and you'll hardly notice them. Very little back seat noise, too... . I can have a conversation with someone sitting in the back no problem.
I'll throw in a shameless plug for Olee Poole (Power By Poole Diesel Performance), he set me up right with the extra tubing I needed to go to the turbo, and had excellent service.

I have 6" Grand Rock Mitres on my truck and love them. Straight pipe from the turbo to the stacks, they are very loud. Same with the soot after it rains. If you are lookin for them, Farm Boys Diesel really hooked me up.

BTW - I used an 18inch MBRP muffler in my setup. The straight pipe was too much for me. the tiny little muffler (really a see thru resonator) is just enough sound deadening to make it ok

The kit I bought was around $450 with 5" chrome stacks (though that was about a year ago), it was from Ed at "Heavy Parts international"

When I bought mine, other companies wanted $600-800 for the same kits from the same grand rock pipe supplier... crazy huh?

We sell two different kits for grand rock, one is a turbo back, the other is a flex pipe back, and ther is a big price difference between the two kits.

Wow, that is a great deal, but those cant be GR pipes. Black clouds prices are very reasonable for GR pipes. Ive seen bargin stacks before and the chrome will turn blue, chip, rust, typical for china chrome. Ive even seen chrome that got stained from soot:-laf In the end you get what you pay for.

Those prices are from GR mike. I ordered the same set for those prices. I also talked to a guy at Grand Rock and he said Ed from Heavy parts international is one of there biggest sellers. A great kit.
