I am looking to upgrade my turbo, but why are the '06's having limp mode problems and code issues. With my sig below, what would you guys recommend or do I have to wait until problems are figured out. Is this a production date issue or does it involve any and all '06's.

Iv got a HTT stainless on mine and have had no problems with it what so ever yet and have had no code issues or any sort of limp modes.

we are experinceing some low boost codes that shut the truck down with 2 06's that were made in june of 06 with the sps 62/14 and no one can figure it out

I purchased what was supposed to be a HTB 62/14, due to a packaging mistake lets say what I ended up with was a 66/14. I had numerous "LOW BOOST CODES". They would happen every time I towed a trailer and were a major PITA.

At the time I still thought I had a 62/14 on the truck and did a lot of reading on here and found a lot of people having the problem. However I know 3-4 people local to me who have never had a problem with a 62/14.

Overboost codes don't matter, they don't seem to do anything. The "Low boost code" puts your truck in Limp mode and it sucks. With the Smarty you will be able to clear them, it just always seemed to happen to me at a very bad time.

I am currently back to the stock turbo and love it. Granted I will not make 500HP like I wanted, but for the time being I am sticking with what I got.

Looking at your sig, you would be a great candidate for twins. Have you considered them at all. There is a guy here in the NW on one of our local forums trying to sell a set of IdahoCTD Towing twins that are about a year old.

I have an II 62/14 (need to update sig), and I've had the underboost code three times. I think the problem is very simple. It always happens when driving at very low speeds. I only had the stock airbox still. I think it's a safe assumption that the ECM expects a little more boost at given engine speeds than what the turbo is producing. And this is expected because these aftermarket turbos don't created boost as quickly as the stock turbo. Like I mentioned, it only happens while driving - almost idling - through parking lots and such.

With the Edge Juice/Attitude, I simply turn the engine off, clear the code, and start it back up. I'm on my way. No big deal.

I recently added an aFe Stage II, so I'll wait to see if it happens again. A clogged or highly restrictive intake would contribute to the problem.

these are towing tralers 24/7 we need these trucks everyday and we cant afford to shut em down with limp codes when they are 100 miles away and still have a job to get to and get done but the pryo is killing us we cant keep em cool thats why we need these bigger turbos keep me updated on how the afe is working and if this solves your problem we have dealt with every boost fooler we could get our hands on and some that we tryed building

My truck has an afe intake and it had the problem with a 66/14.

By the way, when I say shut it down, I simply mean bring the vehicle to a stop, turn off the ignition, reset the code with the Edge Juice/Attitude, and start up and go. For as rarely as it occurs, I consider it almost a non-issue.

It seemed to always happen to me at the worst time. Usually at the bottom of a big hill then I am stuck in 4th with my foot on the floor trying to climb to the top or a wide spot to pull over and get the Smarty out to clear the code.

sad thing is we run tst and we dont have the luxary of eraseing codes just like that

With the larger turbo I saw the Smarty as a necessity to clear codes. I had entertained getting a TST, but didnt' have the extra $$$ for both at the time and I couldn't be without my code clearer.

we shouldnt have to clear codes because we upgrade the turbo due to high egts, even as a stocker these trucks produce considerbly high egts. so you say it is no problem to pull over and clear the code but for me i feel like i have a pos if i had a 40k truck that occasionally i have to pull over and reset so it will work rite. yea if it was 15years old and on its last leg i could see but your talking bout well under 100 miles and under 2years old

I understand your concern. Dodge spent a lot of time designing your truck. If dealing with little problems isn't your thing - which I completely understand - then you shouldn't change the design of your 40k truck. Leave it stock as Dodge designed it. The only reason these problems really come up is because people are modifying their trucks. Do you think the DIY mechanics know more than the engineers at Dodge?

I Agree. 100%

I have the newest version of the Juice/Attitude (hot) on my 05, and as stupid as it sounds, I wasn't aware that I could clear diagnostic trouble codes with the setup. I have always used my Crazy Larry Power Pup... >Can someone please explain to me how to do it using the Edge, if it's possible??

THANKS!
