I was looking at the edmunds.com site at specs for the 2008 Ram 3500 and noticed the 2eg quick order option package which includes a 3. 42 rear end ration and peak torque at 1400 rpm. Any thoughts?

no question - get it. 6. 7 has tons of torque combined with the 6-speed you'll be smiling as you drive by the fuel stations!

Don't get too excited thinking that all these lower RPM's are going to increase fuel economy substantially.

I installed some LT285/70R17 Firestone Destination A/T's and had my speedometer recalibrated at the dealership. 1,350 rpm at 55 mph (68RFE and 3. 73:1 gears) and my fuel economy is still not great... ... I'll give it the benefit of the doubt to increase a little, as I'm only at 5,200 miles or so.

In a nutshell, those 408 ci's w/emissions equipment versus 359 ci's are gonna use more fuel. I often miss my 2003 RAM 2500 Quad Cab CTD w/305*555, but I really love the 68RFE.

well I have 3. 55 4x4 pull 16000Lb. fithwheel. That sounds good to me. I have the 03 high out put 6 speed. I thank that would be A good ratio on inter states. Even in the mountains. We travle out west all winter. Most of are trival is inter states Hy. s

Bigger tires very rarely increase mileage.
