CDL - Truck Driving Schools????

That just goes to show you that Toyota was too cheap to step to a semi to tow their race rig and got the cheapest truck they could find. I would rather push my Cummins than drive a maxipad...

Toyota is pushing their TUNDRA as the truck of choice:rolleyes: Hmmmmm, me thinks they are not so sure about their product. They say it can take on an American truck but they appear not to tow their own race trailer with one:rolleyes:

Ohhhhhh, how saaaaaaaaaaaad:-laf

I've seen a Toyota race hauler roll through town several times, and it was a full size(much taller than the trailer pictured)hauler towed by a big-rig. That trailer probably hauls show cars/trucks or souvenirs. Nevertheless, if that is not a photoshop, they should have used a non-competetive rig to drag it around.

The boast a payload as high as my 2500, and a towing capacity of nearly the same...

So from what I'm understanding from all this the term "1/2 ton" doesn't mean anything? The ignorance is amazing.

Someone should tell these guys they should be using a Chevy to tow their trailer. Oh wait a minute chevy doesn't make a semi. Just as Toyota doesn't make a 1 ton pickup.

This is a goof right, there is no way that that is an actual advertisement of any kind, I got a buddy that works for the advertising agency that has the

GM account. He told me that that is a cheap photoshopped pic. Why would you claim that this is a billboard, that is just dumb.

The tundra has a 2k payload rating IIRC... and a towing of just shy of 11k...

I'm not sure what they actually rate it as, but in MY definition of a 3/4 ton truck they are not... although I don't think they actually place a "1500"-ish tag on it since they really don't have a multi-level rating system.

You guys are correct... it is not a Billboard. The words are photoshoped. But the website did say that the picture was real, taken in Texas at some fair if I can remember correctly.

I just enjoy how everyone, Dodge, Ford, and GM are all trying to get their jabs in on Toyota, thus the reason I posted.

I appreciate the post. I'm not trying to shoot the messenger, just point out what those others don't appear to realize. You know that little fact that currently Toyota doesn't make a truck rated to tow a trailer that size. But to some facts are irritating because they get in the way of their opinions. :-laf

But...

If Toyota ever gets into the heavier end of the light-duty truck business, and offers a diesel... you can bet they will be VERY competitive...

I know a lot of guys are brand loyal to Cummins alone... and even though it wouldn't be a Cummins-powered offering, it would have the "Toyota" toughness quality that the world has come to know.

I totally agree. And what disturbes me the most is the people who should hope the most Toyota does, are the people who don't intend on buying one. Anytime a competitive product comes out it just forces the brand you prefer to raise the bar.

To keep things in perspective, TDR members are only a percentage of all diesel pickup owners, and the same can be said about the websites of F/PS and C-GM/DMAX owner groups.

all of which should be hopeful that another company steps up to help improve the brand you prefer.
