I've been reading about how the AU flash supposedly corrects most of the early 6. 7 regen and associated problems. My question: if you put a Bullybog Power Pup or other such program on there, does that affect the other ECM programming issues, such as what the AU flash is supposed to fix?

Or, put another way, if you had the original flash from the earliest model trucks and chipped it, could it cause some of the original problems to go away?

Not sure I worded these questions very well--I'm not a diesel mechanic.

I don't know the answer,... but it seems like a question that should be asked of a knowledgeable(!) tech at each individual company (BullyDog, etc. ).

[... and of course there is always the question of what it will do to your warranty. ]

I'm assuming there's some possessing that knowledge level hanging out on the TDR (not to mention the "Supporting Vendors")... I can't think of a better venue to pose this type of question.

My thought process was related to those folks who are experiencing ECM problems with their trucks which are ECM-related. Perhaps someone with a problem truck out of warranty who can't get it working at the dealership can "Bullydog it" and see if that corrects some of the problems.

I know I would if I were in that boat.

I'm curious as to what these "flashes" that an aftermarket program doesn't do... I'm sure there's a huge difference.

I know I'm going down a serious rabbit hole here. :-laf

I hear Marci is working on an off-road down load. That will be where the big power will be made. If the after treatment equip comes off,you will see some huge torque #s.

I agree, Yooper, that this is a perfectly appropriate place to ask,... was only pointing out the obvious,... . that the people offering any specific product should(!) have the best info on their stuff. :)

The way I see it is Chrysler needs to keep it all emission friendly first then power comes second. Chrysler also needs to warranty any issues that arise.

The aftermarket does not need to do either of these things. However the aftermarket programmers that I was looking at are updatable so if they do discover issues they can be easily fixed with software downloads. I think Both Chrysler and the aftermarket will have growing pains getting this to work at it's peak performance and avoid future issues. I think back to the cars of the early 1980's where they had so many vacuum lines you would be able to wrap them around your house. By the mid-late 1980's they made huge improvements and fuel injection was standard in most vehicles.

Personally I am in the market for a programmer I dont mind spending the cash to be able to have a nice set of gauges and being able to monitor what is going on with the truck all in one unit. I have chosen to wait until the product has been on the market for a good six months for real world testing.

before I decide on which one to get. Myself and others have asked for input from people who run these and the very short list of replies have all been positive but the people who seem to have them seems to be 1-2 on this entire forum which in my opinion is not enough input for me to be satisfied and feel confident of the product being glitch free. We all know if you put the wrong fuel in these trucks you are going to have trouble. it's just my opinion that if fuel delivery, timing and other variables are being changed that there is a high chance of having issues since Chrysler is having issues in stock form.

I think after Christmas and when people get there tax returns there will be a lot more of these on the road in real world driving situations in non beta testers trucks and the feedback on them will be far more than there is today which is next to none. My other thing is if somehting happens to the DPF Chrysler is going to say ask your programmer mfr to spend the money on a new one because we refuse to and honestly I would not be upset at Chrysler if they said this to me becuase I would not expect them to cover it.

Since the 6. 7 was released the ECMs monitor ALL the parameters that the aftermarket modifies. I think it is safe to say this is to protect their warranty expense.
