Well I got my truck back a couple weeks ago and I am not too impressed... . I have 2003 cr with Bully DL stacked with TST... Recently installed were head studs, Silver bullet 66, II stage 3 cp3, Helix 2 cam/springs, flux 3 injectors, Ported head, new piston due too damage from dropped valve seat... I have ran it easy for about 400 miles and notice several things. . Egts are higher than just picking up speed to get on highway egts around 800-1000*... The injectors are LOUD until it is under a load. . When I floor it I get a lot of smoke with no power and the turbo doesnt start to pull until around 2200-2300rpms and will lag bad when I shift gears... I liked my truck better with everything stock and the 90hp injectors with bullydog on lowest setting... . I was playing with the settings on the bullydog and tst today when I floored it it took forever to spool and when it did it pulled hard then started to pop I let out of it when I pulled back in the driveway I noticed antifreeze coolant came out of the overflow and I noticed it was bubbling I was wondering if I blew my head gasket????? The most boost I have seen is around 50psi... I talked to II and they are working with me on this, they suggested I try a Silver 62 instead... I was wondering if there is anything else I should check??? I ordered new intercooler hoses the should be in by next week... .

I had a SPS66 when it first came out on my '03 HO. It did great on the dyno, but sucked on the street with my six-speed. I think it's a turbo that belongs with an automatic. Super laggy, smoky, lost lots of boost on shifts, etc.

I switched to a SPS62, and found that my EGT's on average were a couple hundred degrees cooler. With the big turbo, the EGT's would skyrocket and the boost could never get ahead of it. Just the opposite with the 62. It would light at about 5-7psi and stay ahead of the EGT's.

Additionally it lost far less boost between shifts, and spooled much quicker when back on the throttle.

I can't help you with the coolant issue, but I definitely think you should try the smaller turbo. It's the best thing I did...

it sounds like you have all the supporting mods to be able to spool that turbo fairly well. maybe its the difference between the 03 and the 05 motors but my 05 spools my sps66 very well. i have even been thinking about going to a silverbullet. i would address the coolant leaking first then i would start with testing different setting to try and get the turbo to spool earlier.

I honestly think it might be the headgasket... I am gonna pull the turbo and go with the silver62 and also change out all the intercooler boots and see what happens... I think I am also gonna get rid of the bullydog and get a smarty cause I want more rpms... I was told that F1 flux 3 were to big of a injector for my combo... Any input would be appreciated...

its a good start, but i dont see the flux 3's being too big to the silverbullet. i do see them being to big for the silver 62 though. the smaty is a good idea. i would prbably check the head gasket, and get a smarty before getting rid of the silverbullet and replaceing it with a smaller turbo. like i said i have no issue spooling the sps66 at all. and you have much more done that i do.

You have too much Turbo for a daily driver. I had one on for about 3,000 miles and hated it. Like said above it would work great on the dyno and sled pulling, but to drive around with they suck. Smokes like a freight train and laggy until you are really on it. Oh yeah I hope you don't tow because you will really see HIGH EGT's.

I was supposed to have gotten a 62/14 but by a mistake I was sold a 66/14 and we couldn't figure out my problem until I pulled it and found out it was a 66.

03 vs. 04. 5+? I dont know the diffrence there but I can lite my 66 without a problem 18-1900 its gone! Towing is OK but I can get it to surge if its below 2K rpm and 20lbs or higher, it will surge. It keeps temps fair but still hot on the long hard pulls in the hills, which I feel is to be expected at the level where im at towing what I do.

Check the coolant issue first, try a smarty and see what happens.

i have to agree, with the 66 being a very nice daily driver. heck i towed with my smarty on 9 and still didnt have any issues with egt's or surging.

is the bddl adding timing? the tst adding timing? bigger injectors add timing. head gasket will go boom with 50psi of boost with too much timing. too much cylinder pressure and not doing you a bit of good because it to early and just fighting the piston from hitting the top of the stroke.

my $. 02

Well I have decided to pull the head replace HG, loose the bullydog and get a smarty, Im gonna call tst about wire harness, Down grade the turbo to silver 62 and possibly put the 90hp ddp nozzles back on... I will start tear down in a few days after I get back from the deer lease...

I agree - my 66mm is fine for a DD truck. The only times I wish I ran a 62 is when I am really jumping off a sloplight against an auto equiped truck...

Then again, now with the dual-disk clutch, you can make the big laggy turbos really launch off the line with a whole bunch of RPM!! :)

Hmm... you have 3's - I have Flux 2's (actually 1. 5-1. 8-ish because Don was not sure of the size when he made these... )

Let me know what you do with the FLUX 3's when they come out ;)

I will... . I have not fully convinced myself that I want to pull them out just yet... . If i do not use them i will let you know. .

Set the timing adv to 0 on the TST and use the downloader of choice to do the timing. I had similar complaints with my 03 HO with my mods and as soon as I removed the timing from my TST my truck ran better and cooler. I hope this helps

I had an off brand 85 hp injectors in mine and my truck ran like crap until I put my stage 2 Dynamite injectors in and now it runs great

Right now I have Formula one flux 3 hellfire injectors which are very popular injectors... . My old ones were Dynamite stage 2 as well... . I dont think my TST has adjustable timing. . I am going to call TST tomorrow and try to send my harnesses in to be checked. . I also found two bolts were loose on my harmonic balancer, when I took off the balancer I noticed the dowel pin that holds the balancer and tone ting in place was missing. . I have a lot to check over... Thanks Wesley

I feel with aftermarket injectors and or stacking a programmer on your tst it is must have item to be able to back out the timing on the tst. I upgraded mine for like $300+- through tst directly

I have Flux 3's and they are,,,, well "BIG" sticks, i cant tow with my BDDL installed( i always run the low end fueling). if your TST has a serial # less than 5000 you cant get the 4 in 1 upgrade with adj. timing amongst other things. i run my TST on 6* timing and rail pressure on med. and can tow without issues without the BDDL installed. even with my twins the temps are not too friendly for towing but then again,,,, i dont have a set of

"tow twins".

when i blew my HG last year a blame the amount of timing i was using with my stacks, BDDL + TST + rail pressure + sticks.
