Have you seen the Cummins ECM trouble shooting manual? It has detailed block diagrams of the ECM, operating processes and trouble shooting for all the components controlled by it. A Cummins mechnic recommend it to me.

If interested, I can try to scan and post it.

Wiredawg... ... we would love to see that. Scan and post away man!

Need Help Posting PDF

All,

I just scanned a PDF file about 800K, but it won't post. Can anyone give me advice?

Also, the Cummins manual is: part # 3666288,

"Troubleshooting and Repair Manual

ISB Light Duty Fuel System

ISB Engines"

Thanks, Wiredawg

I don't know if there is a file size limit or not. If you can't post it here, I can host it on a web server and post a link to it here.

Gary or Jdonoghue:

If you e-mail me at -- email address removed --, I will attach it to a reply so you can either post it at the linked site or figure how to access here.

Thanks, Wiredawg

It would be best to not reduce the file size, as that will lower the resolution of the pdf file. I have seen that done too many times and the results are not good.

Would really love to have a copy of that pdf, in fact, I am salivating in order to get a copy of that file :-laf

More info

Fellow Rammers,

I sent the attachment to some folks, who may be able to post it on John's website. The diagram works with the rest of the manual in that the manual has detailed trouble shooting procedures for each engine monitor, the pumps and the notorious APPS.

This manual is a must-have addition to the FSM for the serious shade tree 2nd gen mechanic.

I'll be happy to offer info as this project moves along.

cheers, Wiredawg

I have the PDF file that Wiredawg sent me, it's extremely well detailed, but WAYYyyy to big to post on this forum, other than in small pieces that would be difficult to trace for various circuits and functions. I was able to use the PDF file to print out my own copy - it's a 2-page drawing with lots of color tracing various signal and voltage paths - impossible to present here down at a size in a single pic that would begin to be of any value.

Dunno what the best method will be to present it for those interested, other than sending the PDF file to those who request it...

I have an IBackup internet storage space that I could figure out a place to put it and have a generic password like TDR. Totally outside of TDR, but at least an option.

Gary I would like a copy of the file please. Can you send it to -- email address removed -- as an atachment?

Sorry guys, my daughter and I spent all day yesterday and today at the DHRA Texas Diesel Nationals. Tomorrow I should have time to upload the file to my web site and get a link posted on here.

I'm sure it's obvious to most who look at the PDF file, but just in case - those 2 pages can be printed out, and then fastened together to form a large 2-page spread that is quite easy to follow for tracing various signal/voltage paths and inputs/outputs.

As an example, I never realized the air conditioner clutch operation was controlled by the ECM...
