Competition Turbo for pulling????

Competition So I FINALLY got for the track today....

Ahh yes - the Ford 8. 8 - common/cheap upgrade for Jeeps and snagged out of F*rd Exploders.

$30k to make 800hp? That's a bit steep for me, but more power to him (no pun intended)...

By comparison, getting 800hp out of a 3. 0L, I6, 24-valve/DOHC 2JZ-GTE is a cakewalk. I'll own at least one of those engines someday... I don't even care if it just sits on an engine stand - they're amazing little 'plants. I have a piston out of Marko's 1520rwhp 2JZ-GTE build that I cherish... but I'm a nutter like that. :-laf

Well, consider a few motors blown, few turbos' blown. Few transmissions and center diffs a bunch of clutches. Being a garage mechanic with not to many resources and other ppls money to test things on before your own. 30K isn't all that bad (and this this project was started over 6 years ago). Not to mention the cost of 116octane fuel :)

Geez how much money was spent on the average duramax motor to only make 1000hp (something cummin's has been doing for many years prior)???? The time and costs of them custom rods alone are outrageous I would assume.

A set of billet rods for your Duramax will run $2750 from TTS...

TTS Power Systems

Ouch.

C16 ain't cheap, that's for darn sure. Even with that kind of octane, it amazes me how much boost a gasser can take... and live. Kinda. :)

Matt
