GDP/FASS questions

Are the GDP and the FASS priced pretty closely, if the products (2 micron filter, air entrainment removal thingy, etc. ) are the same?

I read some place that you don't want more GPH than you can use, because of the pump wearing out and probably noise, is this true (I'm wanting 600 HP w/ twins, but I'm probably at 400/425 now)? I was planning (if I got FASS) to get the 150 GPH for the up to 600-650 that would be the tops for what I would want, but if it's not advised to run the 150 GPH NOW, because of my 400 HP motor, should I wait?

Why can't they just route excess fuel to return line to tank like fuel injected gassers do?

Any suggestions re: best bang for the buck? I can spend 600-750 if it's a better system, but I know a lot of people here like GDP, isn't it cheaper, and a similar product to FASS?
 
Al FASS systems return excess to the tank via the fill neck. Have had no problems with my FASS 150. Was the first upgrade my truck recieved while stock with no ill affects. If you go with the FASS make sure you get the newer one s cause they are much quieter.

I'm one of the ones that like GDP. Both GDP and FASS return the excess to the tank, so you might as well get a hefty pump, whichever one you choose. Personally, I think the GDP design is quieter, more reliable, and more powerful. If you go back and read some of the old threads about high performance CP3's, you will see that a lot of effort had to be expended in juicing up the FASS's to get them to flow enough for the high demand pumps. The GDP's just worked from the beginning. And despite several attempts, no one has yet provided me with any convincing evidence that the Fuel/Air separation feature is anything more than marketing glitz on our high pressure common rails. That said, the FASS obviously works because you see a lot of them on competition trucks.

I agree with that also, but thats another story.



Remember any thing is better than stock.

I went with the GDP with the 2 Mic and big line. Looked at the FASS and Airdog.
 
With the GDP, you still have the use of the fuel heater, water-in-fuel sensor & stock fuel filter ( if needed).



I, also, purchased a spare Walbro pump & have it sitting in the truck in the event the original one breaks. Cost $110. 00 on Ebay with shipping.



However, the FASS is a really nice looking system & I wouldn't be afraid of using it, either.

The FASS made a noticeable difference in both mileage and top end WOT when I installed it...

It must do something for a CRD.

With the FASS system, you can still run the fuel line up to the back of the stock filter canister (or fuel heater if your truck is so equipped) and retain all of the things you mentioned. However, many people suggest using Geno's billet aluminum cap because of the increased fuel pressure (I think there were issues with the plastic cap breaking over time).



Both seem like excellent products!
