I would certainly like this over the remote mount exhaust brake...

But I have to imagine the cost to be quite high. . Then again i am not fimiliar with the workings of how a true jake works

USED ones are $350 - $900 for most models...

If I could get one. . I'd be running both a real engine brake and a 5" remote exhaust brake...

Usually a jacobs engine brake adds 3" of height to the rocker box. Don't think that they will fit under the Dodge cowel.

there are a few aftermarket hoods that are higher down the center... or is it the cowl in the way in the back of the engine?

thats a good reason to stay first gen!!! or mid 90s ford cummins swap. . in a nd and 3rd gen a body lift would probably be needed. . but it would be worth it in my opinion

I'd say that I'd get out the plasma cutter and massage the cowl a bit, but my truck and plasma cutters don't get along so well. :-laf

I'll concern myself with how everything is going to fit when the alpha/beta/production unit(s) is(are) in my hands.

I don't care what I have to do to the body to make it fit. Everyone knows that we bought a Cummins and the rest of the truck just happened to come with it. :)

I may have to alter my plans for the Jeep project a bit if this product comes to fruition since that's where my 2nd engine brake would be installed.

I was going to seriously look into trying to do this when I got my truck back up and running. I have a big truck junk yard about 15 min from me... . but if Pacbrake is going to do it, I will hold off.

I don't mind having to do a little body work to squeeze an Engine brake in. They are going to have to keep the pricing inline with exhaust brakes, or it will be tuugh to sell to the masses.

I agree, even if some "modifications" need to be made to the cowl to get it to fit, I'd do it. I've been wondering why no one has done it yet, these motors have been around forever!

No word on anything yet - I'm going to get in touch with them after the 30-day polling period has ended and we get some good metrics. Not to worry, vendors watch this site quite carefully.

Spread the word and get your honest/truthful votes in - the better we can accurately represent a valid interest in this product, the more likely things will progress to the next stage!

Cheers,

Matt

Yeah, I didn't know the difference between the "exhaust" brake and the engine brake when I had mine installed, lets just say I was disappointed in the sound it made:( On the other hand, it did work well...

I really wish the term "Jake Brake" were NEVER used to describe an exhaust brake - I think that's where some of the confusion comes from.

Jake = Jacob's... and they make both exhaust bakes and real engine brakes. D'oh! :)

Beers,

Matt
