my 2002 dodge has high egt temp while towing up long grades or under heavy load also the engine temp goes up and will get to the 250 + temp egt will be at 1300+ boost is over 30Lbs when this happens as soon as i let up on the fuel the temps come right down this has been doing this for a while. I have no codes showing the truck has a banks kit since it was new. there is now 185000 miles on the truck. I took it to DC and they could n't find nothing which does"t surprise me. Has any one had a problem similar to this. could it be the otto mind or the pcm?

How heavy of a load and what speed. You may have to downshift. Exactly which kit do you have(exhaust, Big Head Wastegate ect... )

I have big head wastegate big exhust all that comes with the banks power pack this problem did not occur untill recently. i have a 38 ft fith wheel gvw on fift wheel is 9800 lbs

Have you relocated the crankcase breather bottle? If not, you probably have a partially plugged radiator. If so, be sure to relocate that bottle when you clean the exterior of the radiator.

If true, I would look there first.

Rgoodell, list your mods.

Clean your radiator and check your fan cluch. . I have been there and done that. . First time take out the radiator is about an hour and a half. It is easy after that. . Charlie

Do look, clean it. I had the high coolant temp problem and I looked at the radiator and it appeared fine. Took it out and it was unbelievable how much crap was in the fines. Pressure washed it and all is good. Intercooler could be gummed up also and that would explain the high egt's. Be real cautious about the egt's, the Banks gauges are total crap. I just replace mine with some Isspro and found out the Banks gauge was at least 50*cooler (maybe more at the higher temps). Boost gauge was low too. 1300 towing is pushing it, if the gauge is off a little, well you know.
