you can edit the VIN out of your post now that you have your answer

i'm a little paranoid about it myself after having my baby stole. i even tape over it in my windshield now

Bob,

On more than one occasion someone has told me he didn't know what his rear end ratio was and neither of us knew how to decipher the VIN. Would you please share with us which digit to read and what the codes are?

I just look at a build sheet. I don't think there is any other way. Sorry

Bob

I'm pretty sure that the axle ratio cannot be determined from the VIN, without the factory build info. I've seen the VIN "decoder ring" for various years, and the axle ratio is never one of the variables.

DMF - 4. 10

DSA - limited slip

These will be spelled out for you on the Equipment Identification tag inside the glove box like EEdmondson mentioned.

They may have stopped it but on the older models there was a label under the hood or on the door frame that listed the original gears also.

well if you already read the vin for me i appreciate it. The truck doesnt have a label in it. I have the build sheet and it only states limited slip and nothing more. Thanks for all your help and replies.

If you have the gearing spreadsheet (floating around here somewhere), you could reverse-engineer your diff ratio by inputting transmission, tire size, etc... and seeing which one comes out to your normal road speed at xx rpm.

Wow,..... Code's, VIN's, Spreadsheet's ? LOL

Sheesh,... whatever happin' to just going out side and finding some flat ground to roll the truck on.

Make a mark on yer rotor verses the caliper,..... then mark your yoke and axle housing. Roll the truck either direction, one rev. @ the rotor/caliper mark and count the rotations of the yoke.

If it's just pasted 4 turn's then it's 4. 10

If it make's about 3 3/4 turns then it's 3. 73's,.....
