Thanks, TDR Staff

Competition Sidewinder Type-D, 8.41 @ 158 MPH

Competition Twins vs. large single, which one for top end ONLY!

In the last run of the day for the Banks Sidewinder Type-D, it ran 8. 22 sec @ 164 MPH in the 1/4 mile. That makes it the Quickest Diesel Pickup Truck. No smoke, running on #2 ULSD and nitrous.

I am sure there will be more to report tomorrow.

I have a few more details about the Sidewinder Type-D’s performance today. The truck has gotten faster and quicker with each successive run. On it’s 5th full throttle run ever, it clocked a ¼ mile E. T of 8. 225 seconds at 164. 67 MPH. Here are a few facts that are worth consideration:

At 8. 225 seconds in the ¼ mile, the Type-D is now the Quickest Diesel Pickup on record, besting the 8. 312 E. T. from the Dr. Performance Dodge Dakota.

At 164. 67 MPH in the ¼ mile, it is also the Fastest Diesel Pickup on record, besting the 164. 23 speed of the Dakota.

The Dr. Performance truck ran on the same track on the same day and was not able to beat the performance of the Type-D.

The Type-D was smoke free all day, while the Dakota smokes an incredible amount. Both trucks use nitrous. The Type-D has no form of exhaust treatment (such as a DPF).

The Type-D runs on ONE CP 3. 3 fuel injection pump.

Preparation work on the Type-D began on October 8th. By October 20th, it was the quickest and fastest Duramax-powered pickup truck on its third pass down the track, and by October 25th it became the quickest and fastest diesel pickup truck on record, having official times at the NHRA AC-Delco Nationals in Las Vegas. There is still more left in the truck.

Congrats... ... .....

But somehow calling a tube chassis Pro Stock vehicle a truck just because it has a truck body on it is a bit of a stretch don't you think:confused:

If you put a car body on it, which you could, would you still call it a truck??

Great times, where are you guys pitted at? A person can get lost out there this weekend!! Who's dragster is out there?

Does the Dr. Performance truck have anywhere near the amount of funding available like the banks "truck?" I wouldn't say quickest pickup truck either being that I don't think it will ever be driving down the road with a haul. It's a fast time and good for the duramax but how much money was put into the engine and how many engines did it take to get there? How much funding was put towards the truck? What do you think would happen if you put the research into a Cummins to burn all the excess fuel reducing the smoke? Probably a lot faster of a time than that little D-max.

little? heh, the duramax is . 7Liters bigger :) not counting any bore and stroking they may have done. :)

I've always looked at the cummins as the "little engine that could do much better".

it's always been the smallest in displacement until the 6. 7.

Well when I said little it was just a figure of speech. . kind of just makes my point even better. I don't see how the 5. 9 could do much better besides the fact in less smoke. . look at the power numbers people get out of it. I think we'll be seeing a lot better numbers out of it also with the coming of age for the Duramax and Powerstroke guys. Should be really interesting to see what it's like in just a year.

yeah, if GM and Furd could get it right and decide on ONE motor instead of a new one every year! LOL!:-laf
