i do get the tdr mag it is great, drives the wife crazy, wants to depose of them to make room... ahahahha... :D:D

searched but could find it.

what was the last month that the 5. 9 was made, would like to have one or should i jump on the 6. 7 bandwagon, it seems fine but a few bugs due to new technolgly which happens. i still see 07s for sale on the lots will going lookin here and there. some say which engine it has it some not on the sticker.:confused:

bought a 97 f150 with the 4. 2 and to quote ferd "possibly a bad head gasket or two, but you should be ok" yea not a $#$$%$%$%#@$%!#@$%! chance!!!!!! other than having to get a referb motor not a bad truck.

thanks for the replies

I have a 08 with 6. 7 and LOVE IT I would say jump ship and buy the 6. 7 and don't look back so far 4500 trouble free miles and climbing

mine has a build date of 11/06 so i got one of the last 5. 9's. . i assume they made'em up till the end of 12/06 as anything diesel made after that had to meet the new emissions crap. .

I got an '07 5. 9 about two months ago. It was built 11/11/06. I'm sure some were made in December, but not many as they had to tool up for the 6. 7's.

Looking back, I don't think I would mind having a 6. 7. They sure have a lot of spunk stock, a nice six-speed auto, and a factory exhaust brake!

Stefan, I just bought an 07 w/5. 9 cummins and wouldnt have a 6. 7 unless given to me. Look under the hood, there is all kinds of junk in the way when you want to work on these trucks. All the emissions crap is in the way, you can hardly see the fuel filter and the EGR crap just puts more soot and polutants into the oil. My truck was built in Aug 06, and I love it... Hope this helps, Harley Hauler

Best way to Put this is go drive a 6. 7 truck and see if you don't fall in love with the way it runs and drives . Thats what sold me on the newer motor .

I bought my megacab because of grandkid stuffff. Will pull a horse trailer with 3 horses when needed but still have room for lots of people. The old commercial where everyone wants to sit in back to watch the DVD is pretty realistic. Personally feel The '06 megacab with the 5. 9 gave me the best of both worlds. You might consider a used '06 megacab. It can get a little depressing looking up the retail value of mine on edmunds and see that its FMV is 14-15,000 less than I gave for it 2 years ago. Love the truck though and plan for it to take me to the pine box. The truck I replaced had 250k and was 18 years old. This cummins ought to last even longer.

Why go for a 6. 7 when you know it's got bugs in it that haven't been worked out yet when you can have the tested and proven 5. 9. Besides the 6. 7 has no more power then the 5. 9 and you have to get emission testing, plus you get less mileage. At today high diesel prices, why would you want less mileage.

Okay, you do get an exhaust brake with the 6. 7. However with the fuel mileage saving in three years you can buy an installed exhaust brake. Assuming 12,000 miles per year of mixed city driving and highway towing.

My '07,5. 9 was built on Dec. 18, 2006. I love it and wouldn't own a 6. 7 atleast for a few years. I don't believe that the 6. 7 will EVER get the fuel mileage that a 5. 9 gets. To set things STRAIGHT ... I am NOT flaming anyone who bought a 6. 7... . The guy is just asking for opinions.

No Choice!

Grizzly, it's not like you have a choice, if you want a new Dodge truck with a Diesel engine you WILL be getting a 6. 7 CTD. :{

My 06 has been to the shop three times for recalls and shift problems in 35K. They finally replaced the shift solenoid, but it in no way shifts like my friend's 68rfe nor does it have as much power.

His truck has done fine since the reflash at 1K and the fuel mileage is improving. As I told him, I have never been so relaxed towing in the mountains as I was towing his fiver with his 07. 5. No comparison IMO to the 06.

There are still Mega 5. 9's new out there. Go to the DODGE.com website.

I just bought my Quad in August and the dealer had about 50 trucks... ALL 5. 9's.

thanks for all the replies poeple, i will give the 6. 7 a test drive just to see. still will be keeping a eye out for 5. 9s on autotrader, new is jjuuusstt tooooo much for me to fork over... ... ... . :D:D

be safe... ...

I bet you can still find some new 07 5. 9's if you look hard enough...

I found mine in late June. There were still plenty out there.

I just purchased a new 07 5. 9L mega-cab this weekend. Dodge is giving $4000 rebate on the trucks right now as well. I managed to get it almost $12K below sticker.

Well, my favorite is my '93. It's my daily driver. It always starts, gets 19-20 MPG no matter the conditions, and it was cheap to aquire.

The '07 is undoubtably the most refined CDT I've owned. I've owned seven. No problems (yet) with the engine. The 68RE and 6. 7 engine deliver power to the ground in a controlled, yet powerful manner. Combined with the standard exhaust brake it is the best tow vehicle of all my CTD's. I have an '05 CTD dually that has an Edge Attitude and I beleive that my '07 will outpull it on most grades. The six speed really lets the engine put the power to the ground. Regrets yet, No.

The jury is still out as far as I'm concerned with respect to the emissions system. I can't complain, but I hope DC get's their sh** together and irons out the problems that some of these trucks seem to have.
