They Tricked MY Truck! NO JOKE!

Half a week having my truck back, and it's still puts a massive grin on my face every time I walk out to it guys. Thank You!

My generosity and helpful attitude has always been there. There is nothing that anyone could do to change that. There is one thing that I remember as a little boy of probably 6.

My mom and I were at the grocery store in the Check-out lane. I looked out in the main Isle and saw a penny. I walked over and picked it up. In line behind us was another family with a boy smaller than I was. I showed him the penny. He had never really "looked" at one before and said he didn't have any. So I gave it to him, I thought, I have more at home, I don't need it.
My mom watching what was going on just smiled and said "Your Dad would have done the same thing, even if it was his last penny. " The biggist reason that I remember it, was that statement. My father was killed in October 1979, when I was a year old. While I may have never known the man, there are times like that in my life where my mom has seen him in me.

For me helping people is just who I am. Talking to Chris through that time in his life wasn't even a question in my mind. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Rough times come and go. What they really show you is what you can handle, and who your real friends are.

Great looking truck to a deserving person. From looking at the previous images, that is truly amazing how it was transformed. I am curious who did the body work, or more importantly what it took to fix that rust on the bottom of the doors. Would love to get mine to new condition or next of new condition again. Congrats again.

It's a totally different cab and doors. The only "origional" outside parts are the left front fender, the dually flares and the glass.

Ya the truck was taken down to the frame. The old cab and box tossed away, but we kept his interior and side windows. The only things from his original truck that we kept is the frame, tires, transmission, interior, side glass, rear window, rear bumper, flares on the box and one fender.

All in all it was not that bad too do, both Chris and I said we would do it again... ... . just the look on his face and josh having his truck back is best reward I can think of.

Then Josh calls me yesterday talking about his truck... ... ... I thought wow this has not happend in some time, how cool... ..... but he has figured now it is getting 19mpg... ... ... ... meaning it never did before and I am guessing he can afford to drive it a bit now... ... ..... have a blast kid... ... can not wait to see ya in it again.

I'm really glad I made the trip up to MN to be there when Josh got his truck back... as everyone said - he's one heck of a guy that has been through a lot in a relatively short period of time.



Somewhat funny story:

I pulled an all-nighter the night before last to get stuff done on the garage project that I missed out on due to being gone all weekend. It's pretty neat staying up all night - had to brave strong winds while gluing the last of the 1" EPS foam to the insulation, make a lot of noise to try to chase a way a skunk that I thought I could smell a bit too strong (never did see him... ), saw the constellation Orion move across the night sky, raking way too many leaves out of the construction site - down the driveway - and across the street into the ditch at 3AM :-laf , etc. It was all worth it.

Nope - nobody did... but I just HAD to see if there was a difference in taste. After conducting a highly scientific experiment, I concluded that the 3. 2% beer:

1. Was devoid of a lot of flavor
   
2. The color seemed lighter
   
3. It was smooth... but not in a good way. Water is smooth too - but I don't want beer flavored water - that's what Coors light is for! :-laf
   
4. 2 or 3 of the 3. 2% beers = 1 can of high test in terms of its ability to alter motor functions and balance.
   
5. Trips to the restroom were too frequent

I don't usually count the number of beers I drink... but I do know what a LOT of beer and at least a dozen sliders will do to your gut...



. . and to think that Josh and I are usually roommates at IRP. They may force us to book a smoking room next year. Good thing we changed hotels. :-laf

Thanks for directing me to this thread Chris. The story is touching in a number of ways. I see several familiar names that I didn't know were so connected. Chris, I had no idea you knew how to switch cabs on one of these trucks. I'm stoked thinking of the possibilities.

Thanks Jim, but it looks like Chris is the one who has the know how & time to do the magic. I've missed that old six speed beast but I have to say I'm sure enjoying the HRVP 44 you & the crew dropped into the white truck last year. It just may have to follow the cab onto the old chasse.

Yes it's a mess. I should dig out a shot I took of the cab interior when I was first able to go visit the salvage yard after my vacation in the hospital. Ouch! the memories. :{ The beast sat wheels up for 2 days before the wrecking crew could winch it out of the ravine we ended up in. That was at the end of January '06. Yesterday, Chris & I put the recharged batteries back in & she fired up without any hesitation. :-laf I was able to drive it onto Chris's trailer.
