5.9 Oil Pan Gasket Replacement

Rememinds me of the time I just needed to replace the head gasket... . Pulled the head and started porting with the die grinder... . on the last hole found the water jacket. Called the wife to tell her I just made a big Money mistake.

She said, "order one from Piers the way you want it and don't mess it up. " She was not happy. In the end I counted my blessing that I did poke a hole through the water jacket instead of having it crack later and wreck the engine.

Dave, I got to look at the pan gasket issue as Divine Intervention. I dont know how many hundreds of gaskets I have installed in a work related environment. I knew better! Yet, that flaw turned out to be the window to a more serious problem. The Lord has shown me what needs to be done. Now HE needs to supply me with the means to get it paid off. I Believe HE WILL!. Are they putting in a stock replacement, or can you order one from PDR? I'd opt for the latter if they'd let me.

Dave, Thanks for your confidence in me. (IF) I could work a regular job. I would be working as a weldor for the Boilermakers at the new Xcel power plant in Pueblo. When you get down to Colorado, I certainly would be glad to peek over yer shoulder, fer free Oo. . The travel and housing up to Montana would eat up the profit and I might get sidetracked by varmint hunting or some such stuff:-laf. GregH
