What is the average life of a clutch on our trucks? Truck has 145,000 miles on it mostly highway miles and minimum of towing.

Also is there a good transmission shop in southern Indiana that can do a proper clutch replacement?

Thanks Jeff

Bought my 96' 12v at 130k. Added power at 140k. Changed clutch at 190k. Clutch still had plenty of life left. However, there's a little spring keeper thing inside the bellhousing. Mine was heavily corroded. Upon taking the clutch out mine broke at the worst point of corrosion and fell to the shop floor. It's about a $5 part I think. I believe the spring's job is to return the throwout bearing arm to at rest position. Went with the South Bend Rally Clutch.

I have a 94 3500 that has 235K on it and the clutch still works fine. I bought it from a friend that put the first 170K on it so I know that it has not been replaced. It pulls a load but on the highway most of the time. This is the first one that I had that lasted any where this long.

Ditto! I felt hear something wierd, called Olie poole and order sbc con ofe Tour it down and had a broken clip on the throwout bearing and a broken clip on the clutch fork. 82,000 on the transmission old clutch and flywheel looked great.

At around 190k I had the pilot bushing/bearing whichever you call it fail. If you plan to put a South Bend clutch in your truck check their website for installers. I used one from the SBC site and was very happy with the work. I was charged $400 for R/R and they were done in under 5 hours.
