Thanks, TDR Staff

What stock of Full Size Pickups etc do you

Steam Engine Torque?

YUP - we've been hearing for some time now about what Toyota was bringing to the market - I just expected something a bit different - as you say, Toyota has a great reputation - I had one of their older gasser pickups and a Corona sedan - both were outstanding. Just as whatever Toyota eventually DOES produce will also be. :D

The more I see the video the more I like the concept truck. Only thing I don't like is the lack of a long bed, but it's just a concept, things could change in the production.

Gary, I like your new Avatar. I'd like to put some motion to my grizzly.

whats the red truck behind it? any pics?

Actaully it is orange, a "regular" Tundra with a TRD supercharged 5. 7 I Force V-8 with 500 horsepower! They supposedly use it to pull their GN trailer around with a "shop" set up in it. There is a link out there somewhere on it.

LOL. If Toy wants to compete in the 3/4 and 1 ton class they have much work to do. Watch this old clip and marvel at the Tundra's amazing torsional stiffness

YouTube - Silver Creek

They may want to beef up the tailgate some for the higher loads expected with our trucks, since it sounds like they are coming apart on the Tundra's.

That and the front end that looks like some bottom feeding fish mouth, somehow I don't think the domestics are worried yet.

so? All the better in my mind. I find unions are the major reason why its just tooooo expensive to build anything in this country. I am in the construction trade, and am selfemployed and REFUSE to join any union... Yet, there are jobsites that I have been on that there are other union boys working, and they are down right hostile and rude to me, do less work, take more breaks, and seriously work half speed as my brother and I, and get paid more. Now, you tell me how that helps this country? Unions had thier place many years ago, they are now not needed and a major drain on this economy. Sorry, but for some of these auto workers that turn bolts for a living to make 70 bucks an hour is rediculas! Especially when the products they turn out are still sub par.

My favorite as to why unions are crap:

I'm not trying to down any trades as "inferior" to others however, there are some difference between a senior systems architect for a major (one of the biggest) IT consulting company and someone who's part of a union and his job is to empty trash cans.

The topics come up about boats and how this guy owns a speed boat... ..... Wait what? you own a cigarette boat?

It's not the job of A "janitor" is all that much of a hazard, however, this guy (and mind you this was maybe 6 years ago when this took place) was making over 6 figures... .

I like them! Yes, they killed a lot of Americans and so did the Germans. We also killed a lot of Japanese and Germans. Let's get over it. They do built good cars and trucks in this country with American non-union workers. My wife and I both have Toyota cars built in Georgetown, Kentucky and there both great cars. When Ford and GM start building as good of a product with non-union workers, then I'll consider buying them. My Dodge truck was built in Mexico and I'm okay with that because they are better them UAW built.

Q. why do orientals make better products?

A. they are closer to thier work, Caucasions are just too dang tall!

:-laf:-laf I dont remember the movie ,but it was hilarious!

Completely agree. Make a list of all the auto manufacturers, separate the union and non-union shops then find out which are profitable and which are not. That should narrow down who the problems are. Anytime you feel that the UAW deserves all they ask for look up the term "Job bank" and see all the people getting paid not to work while complaining that mfg jobs are being shipped elsewhere.

Funny how the unions are always to blame and NEVER the fat cats at the top. The problem with almost every large company is the greed at the top not the folks at the bottom struggling to support themselves or their families. As far as the guys doing less, slower and gettin more, some guys do take advantage of the fact that they have a union which is wrong. It does not give you a free pass to be lazy, unfortunately for some they think it does.

Fat cat's at the top?? Well let's see for example GM employs about 284,000 people, the CEO G. Richard Wagoner, Jr (if that link isn't enough here's another)got paid 40. 7 million over a 3 year period. Now lets do the math $40. 7m divided by 3 years is 13. 6m per year divided by 284,000 people is less than $50. 00 per employee per year. Your right those "Fat cat's" at the top are just killing the company. Lets ignore the fact that every single employee that is currently working for GM is footing the bill for 2. 5 retired workers. Here is a good article if your interested to find out what's really killing them. Not that SOME CEO's are not overpaid but to take a socialist view on what you think is a fair wage for someone who has obviously put in years of hard work and risk to get where they are is unfair. Who's going to take the risk and stress of running a large company (and yes someone has to be on top) if there isn't any reward for doing it? Honestly how many people would go to medical school if the pay wasn't any better than the guy mopping the floor?
