Skyrocketing diesel- we're not alone

I just returned from the Big Island of Hawaii. On 11-11-07,diesel was $3. 93-$4. 00 a gallon. That's being shipped 3,000 miles. We're getting hosed here on the mainland.

This is true. . . been watching AAA price survey and part of the time the average in Washington is higher than Hawaii.

Not all of the diesel is shipped 3000 miles. There are in fact two refineries on the island of Oahu. I filled up my rumble beast last Friday and paid $3. 599 at my regularly attended fuel station, most other stations were from $3. 61-$3. 79. B99. 9 is now only $0. 05-$0. 20 high than regular diesel, looks like I am going full Bio soon.

Diesel routinely at $3. 69 to 3. 75/gal here in Sacramento Area. Flying J on the major N/S highways in Central Valley CA at about $3. 45. Wait until the fuel oil demand increases. Get ready to see higher prices for everything!

I am in the business of building and maintaining coal fired power plants. I have heard that as well. I would imagine it would be easier to sell the "problems" of nukes now with the commom knowledge of the effects of CO2.

I suggested to truckers that now might be the time to stop buying diesel for 3 days. There is no reason for this type of fuel to be this high other than outright thievery.

$3. 89 here on Kodiak Island in Alaska. In Anchorage last time I was through the price was around $3. 59. Prices to a big jump (. 10) since they just introduced ULSD to the island.

Just to clarify ---there is a bit ,not much-- i do let it idle between some calls(i'm delivering pita bread/bagels/wraps etc)NO PIANOS,but believe me,bread can get heavy. I load this 16ft cube F450 to the nuts everyday,just enough room for me to squeeze down a 18 inch middle after loaded(22 stacks-13 trays high,30-40 stops/12hour day). In the summer with a/c on,but no idle time the best i can get with approx 85% city15% highway driving is 10-12 MPG,all of the last 8 Ford F450 we have run are identical,(same motor/transmission/size,97-01)and the mileage is the same with all. This truck has only been driven by me(225,000 current miles),no internal motor work done---yet,original turbo/glowplugs/injectors,but it feels like its getting tired. Another Bread driver has the same running gear in F450 pickup and best he gets empty is 14-16MPG:{:{:{. As i have said in other post before---THERE IS A REASON WHY I HAVE A CUMMINS IN MY GARAGE WHEN REAL WORK IS NEEDED. -----PS my only gripe with the Cummins is maybe Dodge could of learned/stole Fords design for a fuel pump/lift pump---with all our company Ford we have never(yet) had a fuel pump failure-go figure---My 2 cents---Sorry for the long post guys/gals. DW

Thanks for the clarification. I just through pianos in because I figured you were delivering something heavy.
