best tires

what tires does the membershio recommend for the 3500 srw. I tow 18,000 gross maybe 5 times a year and commute, so what is strong ad durable but highway friendly.

For your needs, the OE Michelin LTX M&S in the stock 265/70-17 E size would be perfect. They are expensive but last a long long time. Just take the time to air them down when not hauling, something like 50psi fr and 40psi rr. It will ride well like that.

I second the Michelin recommendation. But I leave mine aired up to the max 80psi all the time to prevent rolling the bead and ward off flats. I've never noticed a rougher ride because of it. I replaced the original set at 60K, and probably could have run another 10K or so with them. I would also recommend playing one tire store off the other to get the best price. A lot of them claim they will beat any price.

Assuming you want to stay with the 17" rims, I'd say anything is better than the General Ameritracs that some of these trucks come with.

I've had excellent results with Mastercraft Courser AT but for mainly highway use I think their HT would be better.

My '01 came with Goodyear Wrangler AP and while a lot of guys don't like them, they were just as good as the Mastercrafts... only a lot more $$.

I also agree with the Michlein LTX tires. I just replaced my Generals at 35k with them and the best deal was at Costco.

$208 ea. mtd, balanced and old tire disposal.
