Towing Comparison Test Dodge v. Chevy

Have you checked the weight of these generators? Were you intending to lift them into and out of your truck alone?

You already have one Honda 2000. I assume it's the EU2000i, since that one is popular, quiet, and allows the use of a parallel kit to connect two generators together. For about another $1200 or less you can get another EU2000i and the parallel kit. I recommend this option rather than buying a different, big, heavy generator.

Two smaller generators are much easier to handle than one big one. Also, unless you have very heavy electrical loads, there will be trips where you can take just one of the smaller Hondas instead of both of them.

I bought two EU2000i generators rather than carry the big Onan Microlite 4000 that I already owned. It was a good move.

A little off topic , it seems like the scum [ chineez made junk ] started some yrs ago putting the peak / surge watts in big print on everything , now even the quality manufactures like Cummins/Onan are doing this .
a little rant about bs .

My back is getting older , so I like the idea of the 2 smaller units .

Has anyone used one of these generators? Looks like a good unit at a good price. I have a 2000 watt Honda, but sometimes wish I had more. Could go parallel, but the bigger Cummins looks nice...

They are probably a good unit, but I would wager that the only thing on them that Onan/Cummins has anything to do with is the decals. When I was in the equipment business I sold quite a few Onan contractor generators, and the generating end of things was imported, and was powered by OHV Kubota gassers. I had one at my previous home that we used for stand-by power after using it as a job-site unit. It worked great, but was noisier than a comparable Honda. The units in the photo you linked to show a Robin engine, which are owned by Fuji/Subaru, and were also another very reliable Japanese engine. Big units are back-breakers. If you're buying it based on your needs and their performance merits that makes sense, but if the Onan/Cummins decals are the attraction I would look elsewhere.

At least Honda and some of the reputable ones explain that there is loss of power with elevation and temperature. In the case of the Cummins/Onan, 3. 5% for every 1000' over 1000' and 2. 5% for every 10* past 85*. Turns out your 2000 watt is good for about 1700 surge watts at 5000', even less running watts.
