My solution to save ~200.00 (AMP bedstep)

The AMP BedStep is a great idea. Unfortunately, it has two things going against it. The $250. 00 price and the apparent exposed, unsightly bracket hanging down off the corner of the truck bumper.



Here's my $60 solution:

The EZ DOWN TAILGATE DAMPER

I step up on the ball of the receiver hitch with my hands on the top of the closed tailgate and step onto the bumper, then swing one leg into the bed and then the next. After I'm in the bed, I unlatch the tailgate and let the damper ease it down. Still have to deal with the height of the bed getting out, but thats not such a biggie to me.

I've been wanting the AMP product for sometime now. Problem I see with your set up is it's going to leave one helluva bump on your noggin when the GN is hooked up... which is the reason i want the Bed step.

good point but can you get around the GN with that step? I use the lower part of the dually wheel and then step onto the top of the outside tire on the rare occasion I have to get up to the 5ver hitch.

Yes I will be able to, have been using the corner of the bumper to get up in there to hook/unhook. With it finally raining here today when I picked up the GN from the shop, I remembered back a year ago when I slipped on the plastic POS cover on the bumper and proceeded to bang up my upper thigh, knee and shin when I slipped off! #@$%! :{ #@$%!
