1. Do I need to return the truck to stock before I update the Smarty for a different torque management?

2. The directions say to pick a file and click send. But there are two files, an A36. 7z and a A47. 7z. Which one do I pick? If I need to do both will the download program automaticlly find the other? If i need to do both, which one should I pick first?

Sorry for the dumb questions but the instructions are not very clear and I think I have seen the answers but could not find then with a search.

Thanks for the help.

If you look on the outside of your case, there should be a label with the software version it was shipped with. That should also have a 36 or 47 in it. I was told to use the same series.

One is for the 03-06 and one is for the 04-07(?), or something like that.

Someone with web-authoring experience needs to offer up some help to Marco and get more informative and easy to follow information on their site. A customer should not have to go search through this forum or that forum for instructions or information such as that.

The Smarty USB program won't upload any file that is a . 7z, that is a compressed file, first you have to unzip it with 7 zip. Then it will extract it and it will be called . smt, then you can upload the . smt file to the Smarty.

I certainly agree with JThiessen above. The directions are extremely confusing. I am having difficulties in loading the driver for the Smanty. Does anyone know anthing about more percise instructions mentioned previously?

If you read the mads site FAQ, it explains everything very well, having said that, I had to read it three times to fully understand it. There is also a set of instructions you can download.

I fiddled with it off and on over 2 or 3 months, then by dumb luck I got everything unzipped and loaded a new program on Smarty. Now I can load any of the programs, but if I had to set it up again with all the stuff, not sure if it wouldnt take another 2 or 3 months!!

I hope this helps

Hello , To be able to update your smarty ecm tuner. Please follow these guidelines.

Start by right clicking on your desktop to create a new folder. Rename the new folder smarty.

You will need to download the driver to the smarty folder. Save the driver to the smarty folder http://www.madselectronics.com/downloadfiles/CDM_2.00.00.zip

You will need the smarty usb. exe This program allows you to update the smarty. Save this to the smart folder LINKS TO EXECUTABLE FILES NOT ALLOWED

The driver and the software programs need to be extracted into the smarty folder using THIS extraction tool. LINKS TO EXECUTABLE FILES NOT ALLOWED?download

Here are the directions for installing the driver http://www.madselectronics.com/downloadfiles/USBDriverinstallation.pdf

Once you have the driver installed you can use the smarty usb. exe program to update the smarty software. Click on the smarty icon. Press run. You will now see a seen button. Before you hit the send button you need to load a program into the smarty usb. exe. Click on file. Open , look in the smarty folder to find the smte file to load into your smarty.

Load the file and press run. It will take about 40 minutes to update your smarty.

Thanks

Bob

Question:

My Smarty case indicates that it was shipped with SW: 2003-06 so I will download the files that end in A36, correct?

Next Q, My original software was V. 406D 2. 08A. Does the (2. 08) mean it is "Mild" torque management?

Last Q, Why would there be two different software versions for the S-06?

Thanks in advance :)

I think you can use either. But not sure.

Yes.

Last Q, Why would there be two different software versions for the S-06?

Thanks in advance :)

a36 is 2003-2006 and a47 is 2004-2007

That is the way I understand it. But I don't see any reason you could not use the a47.

The 2003-2006 and 2004-2007 are the same in both for the 04-05 trucks.

There is not enough physical memory within the smaryu (440+ softwares) to be able to handle all the 2003-2007 trucks.

But the S06 smarty can handle either batch 03-06 or 04-07 on at a time.

The smarty junior (3 softwares vs. 9 ) can go 2003-2007

I hope this is clear as mud :-laf

Thanks for your support

I have one more Q Bob,

Do Smarty's come with mild torque management when purchased? I replaced version V:4. 06D D:2. 08A with the above and I assume they are both mild torque management, is this correct? Thanks again for you help...

Smarty S-06A Ver. 4. 10C, Data: 2. 09A

Mild torque management increase

Years: 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006

(standard Smarty software)

I did not want to assume, but this is pretty clear... Thanks Bob.
