Grooved Head question

Air Force testing Alternative Aircraft fuels

This is really a bad event for the US.

My son brought this to my attention.

I told him that an electric motor will out last several gas motors.

This will cause less sales to keep the car manufacturers in business.

Thus, according to the business partners at any manufaturer this cannot be allowed.

We need a new car company to jump in and build them anyway, but it would end up in court room. !!!!

All those that collaborated to kill GM's EV-1 should be lined up and shot.

I usually don't condone violence, but what all those folks did was VERY wrong, IMHO.

We usually consider crimes against humanity (murder, rape, theft, etc. ) to be the worst. In this case, not only did that chain of events help to line the pockets of Big Oil (amongst many others... ), but it certainly didn't do much to further the development of electric vehicles... which has had an impact on our environment... our health, and our economy.

Tesla Motors' first car is a HUGE success - too bad it's $80k. That car goes 0-60 faster than most supercars. Tesla Motors

IMHO Who ever collects the road tax is probably responsible. How do they tax an electric car? I have heard that some people that are making their own bio fuel are being fined and threatened with jail when they get caught. If we run red fuel it is a major fine.

Well, GM built the Impact, and they sold for about 33K each, at a loss of about 20K each, if I remember correctly. The car was more of a novelty than a necessity; a test of the technology, if you will. This was back when gas was about a buck fifty, and oil was about 20 bucks/barrel, so the nation wasn't so worried about petroleum resources.

Because GM was losing about 20K per unit, they didn't expect Americans to pay the full price of about 53K, when gas was so (relatively) cheap.

The way I see it, nothing's keeping any other maker from copying or improving on the technology that GM initiated, accept for the high R&D costs (and associated lack of profit).

Losing money seems to keep lots of folks out of the game for some reason...

As petroleum gets increasingly expensive and scarce, other technologies will start to be economically feasible.

I saw the show when HBO was running it. It was on the On Demand feature of me digital cable. It's very interesting to see info that shows more than "Big Oil" as the only bad guy.

I think you have a very good point there Robert. What are they going to do to make more money to "improve" the roads. I am going to guess that this is just a convieniant "excuss" for big oil to support it. They have got to do something to make more money as people switch to other sources for home heating:D

New Hampshire makes you pay more for state tax, since they aren't collecting any tax money from us (the EV that is) at the gas pump.
I read that statement here:

2002 Update

Seems you would be better off not saying its EV but it sure would be clean at the smog test:-laf

Kansas just nixed two new power plants. If we do not build some more you will be charging your new electric car with a solar charger. No sun no run.
