Got phone call from Dealer Friday, 12/21/07 and picked up my new truck late that evening. Everything I ordered (except for the 40/20/40 seats) was perfect. As we have discussed here on the forum for months, you can not get a 4X2 dually with 40/20/40 seats even though you can order it that way and all the literature, including the owners manual, shows the 40/20/40. Well let me tell you guys, after the dealer placed the order, he received a phone call from the plant in Mexico that he could NOT order 40/20/40 seats on a 4X2 even though the computer at the dealership allowed this. Anyway, to make a long story short, I have a beautiful new 2008 3500 Dually 4X2 with BUCKET seats. The audacity of Chrysler/Dodge is that they wanted to CHARGE me $490. 00 for the bucket seats. #@$%! In other words, I am FORCED to take a seat I do not want and on top of that, pay extra for it. Thank goodness I have a good dealer and was not charged anything for the bucket seats. Hopefully the new management of Dodge will get this kind of mickey mouse crap corrected. The truck looks beautiful and will hopefully be as good as my other three. Happy new Year to all of you. :)

Got 55 miles on it. Just left the dealer after handing him a check. When I picked it up Friday, had 5 miles on it. Just have not had time to drive it anywhere as yet.

I have a new 5500 with the premium 40/20/40 seat... could only order the premium seat in the SLT... but was able to order rubber carpets instead of fabric... . I say carpets because they cover the floors like carpets... not just mats...

If I had ordered the SL I could have ordered the standard seat... the leather buckets are the option on the Lariet. .

You'll love the bucket seats..... they sit much better (IMO) than the 40/20/40's anyway. The power adjustments and bun warmers are sweet ! It was the best $490 MSRP I spent on my truck.

Congrats on your new truck.

As soon as I can get a pic will share with you. Want to have the bedliner sprayed in and the running boards and the grill guard installed first. After my dealer placing the order with the 40/20/40 seats and the computer showing that was correct and then the plant calling and telling him No Way on the seats, the dealer did NOT charge me anything for the bucket option. I have been working with this dealer general manager since last June after my wreck and I truthfully can say, I have never worked with a more up front, honest (strange word for a car dealer), hard working guy. He really ****** off some higher ups at Dodge arguing about the seats. He has done everything he said and then some. And the price was better than anyone has quoted me, even the guys here on line. If any of you ever want to deal, let me know and I will be happy to give you his name and the dealer name and phone number. I paid right at 12 big ones off MSRP... The best I have ever done before was just under 11 grand on my 2005. I think you will all agree with me the only way to compare prices between dealers is to have the same starting point ie: MSRP. Then what is your price off that. Works for me. Thanks for the encouragement about the bucket seats, I think you are all probably right and I will get used to them. My wife drives a 2000 Ford Excursion Power Stroke and has Captain's chairs. They have folding arms on the inboard side of the seat and are nice. The ones in the new Dodge will really set you up high. I really like that. I am licensed to carry a firearm and liked the lower storage in the 40/20/40 to keep my weapon when not on my belt, as well as our little travel doggie bed sat right on the middle console. With the bucket seats, the area is smaller. Guess I can use some 2 sided tape to hold the little bed on the console. Still have room for the weapon in the lower storage. The drink holders work real well, better than the regular fold down. Will take the new one out for a hiway spin this weekend. One thing for sure, the 4X2 3500 dually rides MUCH easier than my 2500 4X4. Really smooth... ... ... Happy New Year. :)

Maybe I am missing something here but to me the bucket seats and the 40/20/40 seats look the same to me. I have the 40/20/40 which has a small seat and a console instead of the larger console

YUP... . You are missing something. You can seat a third person on the 40/20/40 with the seat back folded up and it has a seat belt and the cup holders fold down from the dash. Bucket seats can not seat a third person, thus the truck is a 5 seater rather than a 6 seater and the 2 storage spaces under the console is considerably smaller than the 2 spaces under the 40/20/40. You also have the hard console that does not fold up. I think we can get used to it tho because the spaces are large enuff for a box of kleenex, etc. :) We have not seen a 40/20/40 with the floor console like it appears in your pictures. Is yours a 4X4??? Ours is a 4X2.

In the 4x4 that I saw, the cup holders are on the floor and you really have to reach down to use them. I way prefer the bucket seats. Just my opinion.

I guess I am still missing something

i purchased the seat this way for these reasons what I do not understand is what is different on the bucket seats in both setups they seem to be the same to me. someone said they were much nicer and more comfortable than the 40/20/40 versions I drove both of them and was not able to tell a difference

I prefer the cup holders on the floor. Much more stable. On my 95 they were up high on the dash and were always tipping over when taking a sharp turn.
