I put the hummer h2 wheels on my Dodge 98. 5 4x4 that is ok but when I read about the caps I keep seeing one with the 8 tabs that grab the lug nuts. My caps have a solid ring in the back that I slitted and had to spread out to grab the groove in the center of the hummer rim. they would not in any way hold the nuts. Where and what do the cap with the 8 tabs come from and do they grab the nut or the beaded area at the bottom of the lug nut. mine cap below thanks for the input ED

I don't know what year they changed them but, I have an '01 and have the lugnut clip style. The clips grab the nut not the beaded area.
I know you can also use the 3rd gen. style caps for this application.
It sucks to try to find a set of these caps for a reasonable price. You're going to pay at least about $80 for a set of four, unless you get lucky and find a decent deal.
I know this because I put the Hummer wheels on and modified my caps for them but when I put my stockers back on for winter they didn't work anymore. I had to buy another set for my stock wheels.
If/when you get a set of caps they will need to be modified, here is the link I used for doing it. He is doing a set of 3rd gen but the clip design is the same concept as mine.

Thans after watching the ebay adds I finally found a part number for the capture nut type that ends in 9098 and am bidding on some. I did put the old caps on my mill with a cutting wheel and trimmed down the out side but the continues ring did not grab the nuts. thanks for your help ED. #ad

Did you try cutting down the contiuous ring? The lugs are recessed in the Hummer rim, I think if you were to cut off ~ 3/8" off the solid ring, it maw grab the lugnuts. I will be trying this mod this week, if I'm not too overlaoded with Overtime at work. .

my experience is that the continues ring cap with the part number ending in 9264 will not in any way grab the lug nuts. I ended up slitting the ring in 4 places and spreading them out to grab the recess in the rim itself, that can be seen in my picture above.
