I think its funny how many think it looks like a Ford. It does have some cues from Ford, and Toyota, but ya know what, I think they designed it right. It looks how the Ford and Toyota should have looked.
Personally, I love it, if I had the money, I would be buying the 2500 when it is available in 2010. We'll have to see if I can save up my pennies! As to the interior being like the Fords... . :-laf Hello, what have you guys been crying about since day one? That dodges interiors suck and that you wish you could have a Cummins, with a Ford interior... we'll you got it. I like it, and its WAY better than the Ford super Poopy look. At lease Dodge limited the name plates plastered every where to one Dodge emblem above the center console and the Ram head on the steering wheel. If it looked like a Ford, Ram would be placed on every body panel and all over every dash panel! :-laf
Center console is optional, its not standard. So there will be room for us hand shakers.
Aluminum hood, thats pretty sweet!
Fenders are no longer stuctural, they are mounted on Hydro-formed supports! This is a good thing, will drasticly reduce cost if you ding a fender.
Grill is mounted to the body... I kinda liked the grill on the hood, but I understandy why they did it, and I would rather have less air resistance noise than the grill on the hood.
Side storage is only on the 5'7" box... boooooooooo
Dash has a leather top... . YEAH! No more dash falling apart and into the abis of frame work madness!
Rear suspension, hey, this is the half-ton release, and from what I read, this suspension is actually pretty damn sweet. They are still giving the truck a payload of 1800 pounds with this setup, and towing cap. of 9100 pounds, thats respectful for a 1/2ton with a coil sprung rear!!! Who's to say they dont go completely out of the box on the HD models and do a multi-link system with factory airbags instead of coils? Its a possibility! They would be a class first, and above all on ride quality with the setup, and in all reality, a better, more stable, and capable setup.
If you read the entire article, they did thier home work this time. Everything on this truck is EXACTLY what I have been reading from you and all other sites as to what YOU wanted in a truck. There is a few things, like no manual t-case, and a few smaller items that you all complain about, but the stuff like that, that is missing, is gone for new improved upgraded from the 80's to the 21st century, sorry, its just gonna happen that way.
As I see it, I think Dodge has a home run up thier sleeve with this truck. I think the ONLY thing that will hinder this trucks sales is peoples doubt of what is to happen with Chrysler since they are a little tipsy at this point, but I am not worried in the least bit. I cant wait to see the fuel mileage that the v6 or v8 Cummins will be capable of in that 1/2ton!
