2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission will 16" rims fit on these trucks?

As far as heavy duties are concerned...

From 1989 to 2002 Dodge (2nd Gen) used 16" Rims OE.

3rd gens ('03 '09) use 17"s and are retrofittable (is that a word?) to all 2nd gens, ('94-'02).

I would double check on that. . There may be a brake clearance issue, not sure.

The guy I bought my factory alloy rims from said he tried them on his 98 and they rubbed. I think it was with the front brake caliper. That is why he was selling them cheap. But you might want to do a little more research before buying. I could be wrong, but don't think so. Think it was a backspace issue.

Guess it depends on what rims you are talking about.

If they are the factory alloys, I believe TDR member Thomas posted information that they came on 2000 - 2002 trucks if I remember right.

Just found the thread. Don't know if these are the rims you are looking at or not. .

Hmm, yes, I'll have to check on that before I keep posting that info.

I do know the 16"s will fit on the 3rd Gens with some major caliper trimming...

The factory alloys which came on the 2000-2002 Rams will fit the older model trucks 1994-2000,or the rear drum brake era. You need to have the rear brake drums turned down a bit on the outside for them to fit is all. Many guys did that way back when they first seen them and was quite the rage back then. I also know a owner who has installed them on his 1st genner with the addition of some needed adapters for proper backspacing... ... Andy

You also need to do some grinding on the front knuckle and tie rod (when you turn the wheel to full stop) #@$%!
