OK, I posted this on the Cab & Chassis forum, but no one has responded. Maybe there is better exposure here for a response.

========================================================

I found a 3500 C&C Reg. Cab 84" cab to axle Cummins 6-speed manual with an 11' electric dump body already installed on a lot in Mass.

I saw this truck early last year and it is a Pre Jan. 01 2007 truck (the exhaust break is not installed or activated - no button on the dash board).

It is a ST with 20/40/20 split vinal bench seat

- A/C

- manual windows/lock

- snowplow prep

- ST decor

It is over a year old so I'm sure it will need all the computer updates.

I am concerned it also has that problem that the early 6-speed manual trannies had with fluid level.

What do you guys think would be a good offer price for something that is sitting in the WAY back lot, all but forgotten, covered with snow? I'm thinking an offer of 30K just to get it off their lot.

I would think I could get it for a steal, but I am concerned that there may be big problems with a truck that has sat for such a long time.

Are my concerns valid?

I think you'd be better to purchase a truck that better fits your needs... unless you need the dump box. . they are not going to remove it to sell this truck... other wise they would have done it by now... .

I want the dump box and want to low-ball these guys in the low 30's just to see if they want to get rid of the truck since it's been on their lot for over a year.

If they still want full price for a year old truck, the I would just order a new '08 and save up for a dump body.

If it is an early 07 truck then it should the 5. 9 engine which will have a lot less emission's on it. I am not sure about the transmission oil level but this truck I think will have the G56 . I purchased an 07 with the 5. 9 and currently have had no issues. Mike

I have a variation of this thread going on the 3500/4500/5500 forum.

This truck is one of the first few NEW Chassis & Cab trucks made in fall/early winder of 2006. It has the 6. 7L engine.

NONE of the new (e. g. 2007. 5+) Dodge Chassis & Cabs have ever been produced with the 5. 9L ... only 2002 and earlier modles.

This is a 2007. 5 made in Nov. 2006. This is when the exhause brake software was an option and not standard.

I specifically remember a problem with the new G56 transmissions (probably when they first came out) that their fluid levels were too low and that the fill hole was drilled too low on the side of the gear box. I am just wondering if this G56 might have this problem or if this problem was fixed before the 2007 and 2007. 5 modle years?

Model year 07 C&C only had the 6. 7 CTD as an option and the 5. 7 Hemi was standard and was the first truck to have the 6. 7 which is different than the 07. 5, 6. 7 CTD in the regular truck. @350 HP for the reg truck and 305 HP for the C&C. It is also has some difference in the engine assessory's. Member EB has over 100K on his 07 C&C and only had one issue with throttle valve replacement at 50K and my C&C at 10K has no issues to date. ;)
