My 05 has the 1-2-1-2 or 2-3-2-3 shifting problem that so many of us have. The other day it was really bad so after 3 years I finally had to call the DC complaint line and register a complaint. I'm scheduled to go in to have this worked on again om Wednesday. They are supposed to send "more technical" advise for my tech.

To my dealers defence they have had some personnel changes and so I have had explain all of this to many techs and also I feel for sure that DC has their hands tied too. Also the factory tech that makes his rounds has changed 3 times in 3 years and some how me and my truck keeps slipping thru the cracks and I fell certian that the longevity of my transmission has been compromised. It does not shift as firm as it used to and it is doing this worse and worse each day.

Oh yeah just so you know I've had it in for warranty service 9 times in 3 years, 1-replace steering wheel, 2- replace tie rod end( busted rubber boot)

3- replace rubber door seals, 4-9 you guessed it -transmission shifting issues!

Have any of you had failures with your transmission that had these symptoms?

Any advice?

Not shifting as firm is probably the result of the same thing that is causing the shuttle shift. Yes, it is probably doing some damage and depending on power enhancements slipping all the clutches.

I have ZERO shuttle shift, NONE, NADA, all gone bye bye. Even running Smarty on moderate TQ management and SW#7. ;)

Do yourself and your truck a favor, TransGo shift kit and replace the gov solenoid and transducer. If that doesn't stop it add a DTT shift enhancer.

The shift kit does wonders for the shifts and lockup. No more slipping the converter lockup on 5 and above, firm positive shifts, and best of all just a normal shift progression under very little throttle. :)

The DTT Shift Enhancer did nothing for me and it went back to DTT (20% restocking fee stunk!). It is in fact a governor and solenoid issue that fixes it and that's what did it for me. Dodge TSB covers it!

My truck does that as well. How much is this products, and does it take a specialist to put them in?

Can someone tell me what transmission Slip feels like? I occasionally will attempt to accelerate a little and notice my rpm's jump up a good deal (mayber 1200-2000) without much acceleration actually happening. Almost like a spike up and back down on my tachometer without any noticeable increase in speed. Is that a result of slippage?

Transgo does not list the 48RE:confused:

Yeah, they do. Find a dealer for Transgo and have them look it up. It is a relatively new kit and it is 48RE ONLY. It has 48RE stamped all over the instructions so it is available.

FYI, Transgo's web site sucks for completeness. Find a supplier and they can get it. ;)

Its a combination of clutch slip and TC slip. I had the same problem until the shift kit. Acceleration is much better now. :)

Well I took ol'e Bessie in to get her transmission worked on yesterday. The service writer tried to get ahold of the factory guy who was at another dealership about 50 miles away to get the ok to do a flash update and the tsb for the bad shifting problem I'm experiencing.

I have to give credit were credit is do, the factory guy said to go ahead and work on it but he said that I would have to pay $100 deductable.

Well that information did'nt get to me before the service writer at Court's Motor Sales in Hurricane WV went ballistic!!#@$%!

That is what I like in dealer one who is concerned with the customer. Any way they did the tyranny flash and replaced the tyranny pressure solenoid and told me to drive it a while and see what it does, if that did'nt fix it call them back and they will try the next thing on the list.

Like I said before I've felt like the dealerships hands are tied by the factory.

Time will tell I guess.

Well it's been about 2 weeks now and I'm back to the same ol'e thing!:{

They replaced the govenor solenoid and reflashed the computer , maybe helped a little but not much.

At times it seems that it does'nt shift as firm as it did , not the direction I wanted to go.

This is such a pain in the rump, how hard can this be to fix anyway !?!?!?!#@$%!

KSHall, I think your only solution is complete Build (upgrade) , with some type of controller... if it is hunting around their is a weak link somewheres, as a builder I would not want to take on the liability of guessing. . Sorry I cannot provide a lost cost quick fix.

KSHall, I have been down the same road with the same results.

Replaced gov solenoid and sensor and it was better but not great.

Had the truck flsahed, did not help.

Added a DTT Shift enhancer, helped a lot but still some shuttle under light throttle with TQ management removed.

Did some research and the shift kit or a custom VB seemed the final answer. It was and trans shifts just great even with Smarty Wild loaded. No shuttle, no slip, no hang. The only fix it seems is get the pressures up to stop the problems.

Since you seem to have a decent SM to work with, but the shift kit and see if they will put it in. Hope you can find a way to fix it as the shuttle is really annoying. I did not realize how much slip and hang there really was under light throttle until after the kit. It really is a night and day difference.

Good luck. :)

Just by chance the factory guy was there today and after a drive and a few calls and some research on the DC service sight he came to a conclusion that it probably would not be fixable thing.

I've got one more thing to try thru DC and then I guess I'll have fix the darn thing myself, what a crock! 40K and you have to build it yourself. #@$%!

What VB or shift kit did you wind up installing in your truck?
