Afe stage 2 intake

Anyone near Fort Worth that has a 98. 5-00 truck? Quad is looking for someone willing to come to his shop for testing on the Adrenaline.

I stacked Smarty with my Adrenaline today & the combo is working well together. I ran sw2 & had the Adrenaline on every setting, works great. It feels stronger with the 2 combined, especially at mid range.

Quad had to make a software change for the high idle to function properly & guys are sending their boxes in for the update. I recieved mine & the surging is gone, Turbo timer is smooth to engage & cancels out by hitting the throttle pedal. He also added a engine protection feature to the box. The box doesn't add power until the engine reaches 170*. I've towed with the box & was able to run PL10 while towing & had no egt issues. The gauge would hit 1400* briefly then back down to 1250* & stay there. Quad said that he will be sending the commander monitors out to the beta testers within the next few weeks & starting stage 2 of testing. I think the box will be released soon. This box is the best towing box that I could ever imagine, never thought it would be possible to tow on kill. I love it!!!

Very cool.....

Tell me about it, just when you thought that 2nd gen performance was a dead issue. BAM!!! This box rocks!!! I know everyone is getting antsy to try it, but you gotta respect the fact that he is taking his time to perfect what is probably the last performance box made for the 2nd gen CTD. Trust me, well worth the wait.

170 degrees... I dunno if I like that. I mean yeah the motor should be warm, but it'd take me 30 miles to get to 170 with the weather around here. I think that should be lowered some.

The cold weather protection, turbo timer, high idle will all be adjustable through the commander. He has thought of everything.

Sweet... can't wait til it's available. Keep the updates coming... also some dyno #'s would be cool

Sure will! A few guys have dynoed the box & they say it is equal to a Drag comp. One guy did 542hp with Drag, switched to Adrenaline & laid down 541hp for his next run. Remember that the Adrenaline is dynoeing equal right now & the comp files haven't been released yet. Also when guys would stack Smarty with the comp, they would lose 30hp on the dyno. The Adrenaline is fueling like a Smarty off idle & still matching the Drag comp in power.

Well I'd buy one if it can out do an ez and a drag comp stack. I'm just looking for more power, all the features are cool but the power is what I'm after. I remember back last september they were saying that it was gonna lay the smack down on the drag comp... . time will tell... I'm getting a new box(dunno which yet), I just hope it's worth the wait.

Corey

I know it is gonna beat it. DTR member RowJ got better numbers with the Adrenaline than his TST/smarty stack. I can't wait till quad releases the comp files.

The truck is from right near you and has plenty of fuel. If the owner cares to jump in he will, but he did way better the second day of our event on the TST box on fuel alone than the Quad box. One thing he wasn't doing is running out of fuel, that is for sure... ... Andy

This is true but, there is more to the story.

On fuel the numbers were about even, Adrenaline vs TST COMP/Smarty (I think, its been a while). On the juice we made less power because he had to run smaller jets.

I have been working with him and we had a couple of issues. First due to some software issues we were not fueling hardly any at all above 3000rpm. The big problem is that we had WAY too much timing in it for running N20. This is why the numbers were lower on the hose.

Now, since then everything has changed and we have solved most of these issues. We are working on regular production style stuff right now and we will add the more aggressive, harder stretching stuff as we go.

I personally think the key to the big power stuff is acutally backing off the timing but, only a little time will tell for sure.

The numbers were in the low 600's on fuel and mid 750's on the hose if I remember correctly.

Im interested!!!

"With gains up to 180 rwhp* and 420 ft lbs of torque,*"

What do the *'s elude to? There is nothing on that page that calls out a footnote.

Just curious.

Yeah, I am not sure why they did not stick the footnote in there??

The * is there simply to call out the test truck. In our case it is a 2002 5Spd with a 62/12 and 4" exhaust. EVERYTHING else is stock.

The only reason we had a charger on it is that the HX35 does not live up to a continuous 400hp beating everyday all day long. I am sure if we were just driving the truck it would be fine but, that is not the case when you do 150 dyno runs a day or so!!!

Also, the 180rwhp was a gain over the same truck. I think the truck did 18X stock and 210 or so with the turbo and exhaust and then did 394 with the box up.
