I noticed that my oil leak is coming from the oil drain tube that goes into the block. . What is the best way to fix it??? Thanks

there is a gasket where the drain tube meets the turbo center cartridge. that can be bad or the 2 10mm bolts that secure it can be loose. if it looks like its coming from the area where it goes into the block check the 2 hose clamps that connect the tube to the boss on the block, one may have loosened over the miles.

Good Luck.

I think it is leaking around the actual boss coming out of the block... Does that metal tube come out of the block???

Yes its a press fit. maybe you have a corrosion issue going on? Maybe pull the tube out of the block, rtv it and tap it back in. kinda tough with no real estate to work with but it can be done. check out to make sure it isnt dripping down from anywhere first though.

I checked it and it does not appear to be dripping from anywhere and the hose clamps are tight... I shook it a little and it does not seem to be as tight as I would expect... I wonder if I should replace the whole boss and where I can get it??? I also wonder what is involved in replacing the rear main seal?? I will be checking to see if it is leaking when I upgrade my clutch. .

rear main would be a good time to do it when the trans is out. As far as the tube into the block its a cummins part should not be able to move it by hand easily its presses in pretty tight usually.

pn I could find is 3903744 for #3

Thanks I'm going to order it and my rearmain seal tomorrow... .

A nice fix to repalce the tube is the flex line avaiable from cummins. Same flange that bolts to the turbo, with a flex line and o-ring tube that plugs into the block, all one solid line. I believe they are available in 2 lengths. Just to save a couple connections and easier to work with. I think they are about $50.

I got the new in today..... The old one pulled right out... It was not tight at all I say where someone put silicone around it to try and seal it up... The new one was very tight but once I got it started it seated well... . Thanks again...

I had to re-seal mine with silicone every year, kept leaking. Then I switched from the orange silicone to the grey silicone. the orange is great for high temp but constant exposure to oil makes it break down. the grey silicone is better formulated for oil exposure. so far, have been going on three years with the last seal job.

WPeschel, this is off the subject, but I was curious what you decided to do about your 175 HP P7100 pump. I'm hoping everything works out for you to get 400 HP.

For now I have decided to stay with the pump I have..... I am still planning on buying a 215 pump... . I installed my 3k gsk and that made a world of difference... The KDP was already tabbed, It also had a #10 plate that I went ahead and sanded down to a o plate... The egts are still very managable while towing. . I plan on ddp 90hp injectors, 191 delivery valves very soon. .

BTW JRS if I was you I would get a new drain tube tor 30 bucks and just replace it... It was rather easy after I took the oil filters off..... Took maybe 10 min...
