Fass Hpfp Q!

GearVendors Remote Mount (Driveshaft) Unit?

Hey Guys, I've read all I can read on here regarding the Smarty Jr and it sounds pretty good. But I haven't been able to find much user information on the MP-8. One thing I like about the MP-8 is the in cab power change capability.

As for what I want to do with the truck, it's my daily driver that's also used to tow our 5th wheel a few times a year, and a horse trailer a few time a week. So lower EGT's and dependability are a must. And a bump in up in mileage would be a nice bonus. And if I could do it as smokeless as possible that would be even better.

So far I'm thinking about trying the CFM+, gauges of course, and I have the Amsoil Nanofilter but no other airbox mods. I'd like to keep my stock airbox if possible and possibly add the cold air induction somehow? (I'm still trying to figure all that out) And later on down the road a valve body and torque converter.

The reason I'm looking at the Smarty Jr or the MP-8 is they seem to keep rail pressure low which I like. So, how does this recipe look to those of you who've been there & done that? And would I be better off going with the regular Smarty or something else all together?

Thanks in advance for any insite you guys can provide,

Mark

And one final thought: As a recent Ford convert, I really can't stand the thought of letting a 6. 4 put it on me.

MH, the two products you are asking about are night and day, one is a downloader(Smarty), and one is a "fooler".

From what you are asking, I would say, go with the MP-8, if, change on the fly is essenstial.

Anytime you raise pressure, you are also going to raise egt's.

From what I understand... . Smarty does not raise pressure, per say, just changes where the pressure is increased/decreased in the rpm band.

I believe you would find advantages with either, or both, stack them, that is what I would do.

As JJpage said they are night and day. The smarty is timming and duration, the mp-8 is a pressure box (increase in rail pressure). Adjusting power of the fly is a great way to go. I love My Edge juice with attitude because it has 5 power levels that are adjust on the fly and also is a set of gauges. The juice is a timming and duration box.

The Smarty junior does not raise rail pressue and will decease the egt's at least 200f less over stock.

just an fy i

every smarty is in cab adjustable, it uses a factory poteniometer... usualy hooked to your right foot.

the only time i've wished for a quick easy way to rurn it down was if the wife was going to drive it.

Thanks!

Thanks for the education guys. I did a few searches but all the conversations I found were among those who know all this inside and out. As I'm making the transition from a 7. 3, I was like a fish outta water. So thanks again.

I've made up my mind based on the above and everyone elses information in this thread. And it's also worth noting that I went to the TS website and mailed a pretty detailed question to their tech dept but they didn't respond. So if they had a case to make for their product, they missed the boat.

If the Smarty Sr will do perform the same as a Jr at lower settings, I think I'll just go that direction. Unless Bob tells me otherwise.

I have both on my truck and if i had to pick between the 2 it would be the smarty. For an example with both set at 100hp the drivablity of the JR is far far better than the mp-8. the mp-8 will keep pulling after you have let off the throttle due to the way it plays with the factory computer and the rail pressure. ya the adjustability is nice but with the jr if you don't want to put all the power down just go lighter on the throttle. if you don't put your foot in it hard you would think it was stock but give it just a little more and its got great power.
