The front drive shaft blew a U-joint today on the forward side, fixed that. Went back out and the trunion exploeded. Anyone have a front drive shaft for my 1990 W250 4X4. with a Getrag 5 spd

HELP!

Any Driveshaft shop would be able to built you a driveshaft. Heck, its their business! On my crazy shafts, I use Jesse @ High Angle Driveline down in Cali.

You should upgrade to 1410 joints while your at it. You will have to get new yokes on your t-case and pinion. Dont get the stock Dana/Spicer ones with the bearing retainer straps. Get the yokes from someone like High Angle Driveline(or any 4x4 shop) that has the u-bolt strap types. No worrys about u-joint problems after that. Unless you start breaking the ones that are factory in the read driveshaft.

Tim, a new shaft from Fleetpride in Syracuse is about $150-175. End to end complete. Not sure if they are open on saturday though.

Tom Woods is balancing my 93 Getrag truck front driveshaft. I just sent it to him today. If you want to give him a call, he would have a model for you by Monday if you needed to have one made. I am going to modify mine to take a yoke that uses ubolts like liftedlimo mentions. Probably use 1350 ujoints. I have a little lift and drive in pretty articulated situations. I mashed my strap bolts and the ubolts will give me a bit more clearance.

Saga Continues

It sure has been a rough week for the truck. But the good news to come from all of this is I'm getting the itch now to start doing some mods to the truck. I bought it 2 years ago this week actually for $5600. I picked it up in Buffalo NY and drove it back to Tug Hill trailering my dads S-10. That was the day of the wicked wind storm 2 years ago. The previous owner handed me the front drive shaft when I picked the truck up. He was having it rebuilt. Then I will finally start a signature line. Thanks for all the information to fix the driveshaft I new you guys would know the best fix for the situation. Borgeson Shaft and PSC Steering gear box were shippped on Wednesday. Guess I'll be doing some drive shaft work also:-laf

I'm not sure if they are open Saturday either because I was at the Speedway all day. I dropped off my broken shaft this morning on my way to Rochester and they called me and said it was too far gone. But, they had a slightly beefier one for 229 and another 29 to match it up to my size and I picked up my new one on the way home from Rochester for under 300 which is how I picked the truck up from my previous owner. Front drive shaft in his hands brand new or he was gonna give me 300 off the truck, if it wasn't done in time the day I showed up to take her home. Going out in to the shop to install it now We got a pile of snow today. It started in Barnes Corners for me only 16 miles of blowing white out conditions Rt 12N Lowville to Copenhagen closed from base of 177 north, I told em they should close 177 too. :-laf
