Was towing the 5er today, was doing 65 up hill i flooed it to pass and the truck was pulling strong, egt was 1100 at the time, over drive off, at 75 mph the truck fell on it's face for two or three seconds, and then pulled real strong. shifited back in to over drive hit 82 mph and backed off. 50 miles later at the fuel stop, i checked for codes, and p0251 came up so i looked it up ---- injector pump fuel valve feedback ---- what is this and what does this code actualy mean. ?????? o ya i am running the ez box on setting 4. i have never had a problem while towing. the box has been on setting 4 for over 35,000 towing miles while towing over 11,000 pounds.

Wow , go easy on the truck . 82 mph while towing an 11,000lb 5er !

These trucks are awesome ,but they have their limitations .

Hope the codes are nothing serious .

Good Luck :--)

I set that code once before. It was when I was running a pressure box. It turned out to be a bad MAP sensor connection with the box. The box didn't know what the boost was so it kind went crazy and was fueling wrong and set the injection pump code I would check the map sensor connection.

Code P0251,Injection pump fuel valve feedback. coobie

yes, we know what the code is, just trying to figure out what set it. :D Like I said the fuel pressure box is most likely what is setting it. It probably got wrong boost readings from the map sensor and was fueling out of the parameters of the the CP3

My truck threw codes 0192 & 0237 this week. I thought is was the Quad race box I had installed, but was wrong. From the diesel shops and my dealer I spoke with, there thoughts are the lift pumps in these trucks cannot supply enough fuel pressure for these HP boxes. I will have the Fass fuel installed this monday with a fuel pressure gauge. I will let you know how it works. coobie :D

funny enough, I was running the quadzilla tow module when mine did it also. I know why mine did it though. It wasn't quad's fault, it was mine. :D

Could be the pressure relief valve opening on the fuel rail. If that happens don't you lose all pressure in the rail and subsequently the truck would fall on it's face correct?

Mine started doing the exact same stumble thing about two months ago and set 0251 and 0630 with the TST and EZ. Took both boxes off the other day and it still did it, stock! The dealer is replacing the ECM (supposedly) to fix the 0630 code that keeps coming up and then will address the 0251 code. My truck also went from 13 psi fuel pressure at 70 mph with my carter pump, and gradually dropped off to 8 psi and seems to continue to fall... .

Truck also has less power and TST and Ramifier stacked will no where near slip my factory clutch that has 66,000 hard earned miles on it. Something is wrong but the dealer can't seem to find exactly what it is. If they can't do anything soon, I may need to check with a diesel mechanic that knows what he's doing...

EDIT: Another thing, with just the RAMifier turned off and then dialed up all the way, it makes a VERY slight diffrence. Definetly not the 100hp it's supposed to have.

Update! Dealer still couldn't figure out what's up with the truck. So I called Mark at TST and ran the whole situation past him to get his opinion. We discussed it at length and then he was like,"Did you check the rail pressure to see if the relief valve is functioning properly?" Nope, hadn't done it. So I went back to Dodge and explained the reason for the concern on the pressure valve and they hooked up the scanner and we went down the road.

Here's what we came up with: The pressure that the ECM was "calling for" and the "actual pressure" (which was listed right below the "called for " amount) were the same until the "called for" amount went above 14,000psi. After that the "called for" amount went on up to approx 22,000 but the ACTUAL fuel pressure peaked at only 14,000. Diagnosing the problem as the pressure relief valve. That's why my pressure box wasn't doing much for power the last while and my TST wasn't nearly as strong as I thought it would be. Below is a pic of the part my dealer ordered. It costs over $400 and can't be bought by itself.

My son-in-law was on his way out of town (Vegas) last Saturday when his truck (2004. 5) died. Threw a P0148 code. It would turn over but wouldn't start. Tried all of the side-of-the-road tricks... even disconnected the Quad box. Nothing. 3 Days later at the dealership they said the pressure relief valve was shot and the injection pump wasn't getting any fuel. Replaced the PR-valve today... $402 and change. Runs fine now.

Oh... BTW... Truck overhead console showed 119 degrees today. I wonder if the high ambient air temps play into it any??? Probably not. Engine temps (even at long red-light idle) never goes over 200 degrees.

Man if you guys are paying for that valve yourself you are getting RAPED! Wade (Diesel Power)has them for like 1/3 of that price.

I've been having the same problem over the last 8 months or so. About once a month I make a 4 hour trip towing about a 2000 lb trailer. Usually set the cruise around 78 with torque dog on high setting. Every other trip or so the orange check engine light would come on. Previously I didn't know how to check the codes, so i never knew what the problem was. Normally the next day when i started the truck the check engine light went away, or within 15-20 miles after. one time the light didn't go out until 75-80 miles. This past weekend went on a trip, same thing happened, except the engine stumbled for a brief second first. Now that i know the trick to getting the codes to readout on the odometer, I discovered the P0251 code. I guess the answer is no more running for extended periods of time with the chip on high setting. hopefully i didn't cause any damage?

p. s. all engine parameters in normal operating range: boost around 15psi, pyro around 600, trans temp 160, engine temp 200, oil pressure good, etc.

For what I have seen anytime you have the symptoms of truck falling on its face under hard throttle, pressure box in use and P0251 code, the first place you should look is the pressure relief valve. You can check it by simply unscrewing the banjo bolt and watch for fuel coming out while the truck is idling but it is much simpler to use the correct tool which is a fuel pressure test fitting #9013 available from glacier diesel for 22 bucks. It saved me the money of just replacing the valve before I got my rail pressure gauge installed. Jay

So. . Since i have had they same problem and code w/ and w/o a trailer. .

I guess i need to get a gauge and check to see if that valve works. . right. .

(still in warranty) If it is bad, shoul i go with aftermarket?

Thanks
