Men it has arrived! 20 minutes ago. Looks great and the quality looks impeccable. Outershafts, spindles, massive hubs, bearings, seals, lugs, and the Dynaloc lock upgrade. Waiting on the new axles. Once the axles arrive the installation will begin.

Pics will come. The hubs are not like what the picture at Dynatrac shows. Those must be for jeeps or smaller trucks. These hubs are 4. 4 inches at the end where the lock mounts. They also are much shorter than what I've seen in the pictures from guys who have done the conversion. These hubs by my calculations should stick out passed the factory hub caps by about 1/2" to 3/4". When I get things together like grease and my tools I will start and take pics every step. Do not regret paying extra for this kit at all. Talk to you later. Bunyan

Might want to check with Dynatrac on that kit, They told me it was NOT intended for fullsize trucks. The Subhub kit is for Jeeps and buggies with Dana 60's swapped in. They said the bearings are not HD enough for the weight of a fullsize truck especially with the weight of a Cummins over them. Just a heads up.

Ditto. That's what they told me.

I'll third that. I did my Dyna-trac Free-spin conversion last year and they were still in the prototype process for the stub hub and their own low profile locking hub. I asked them if I should wait and get the stub hub and they told me the same thing, that it was designed for the Jeep and rock crawler market, where they were more worried about axle diameter for large tires and horsepower and they weren't really worried about the weight carrying capacity of the vehicle. They did say their new low profile locking hub is a lot stronger than Warn's premium hub. Unless they've changed their stance, I would call them to make sure they are ok with it going on a Dodge 3/4 ton with a Cummins. Don't trust the counter people either, when I ordered my kit I asked for the inner axle upgrade to the 35 spline axles and my truck was a late '02 that didn't have the cad or inner axle disconnect. I stressed that to the salesman and I thought he understood. When my kit arrived the long axle was for the inner axle disconnect system and the seal location was in the wrong place. I called the sales desk and the counter people had no clue what I was talking about. They switched me to one of the tech. people in back and he was aware of it and he got me the correct axle. They sent UPS a return request asap, picked up my axle, and I had the correct one in 2 days. So I feel they treated me very good but I would still call them to make sure and request to talk to one of their R&D or tech. people. Other than the axle snafu everything else was perfect. I looked at EMU's kit also and I chose the Dyna-trac over the EMU kit hands down.
Regards, Mike.

I have just noticed Solid axle stuff advertised in the Jeep and sport utility magazines recently. It does look strong but I'd like to see it in person. That is one reason I got burned out of Jeeping. I owned a 52 CJ-3a and was into the rock four-wheeling thing since 1972. I did all the trails from the Rubicon & Barret lake to the Dusy trail and Suprise canyon. Towards the end a new mouse trap was coming out every year and I was always working on my jeep changing stuff.
Regards, Mike.

This kit is for the heavy trucks 2500, 3500. They sent a brochure with the kit this is where I came up with the stub hub. The brochure shows the traditional stubs and the new stub hub. I called Dynatrac this morning and they said this was the updated kit. The brochure shows the stubby in both set ups light and heavy. The light being for the buggys, jeeps, 1500 trucks, and so on. I will start the install today doing the driver side first. I've been taking pictures and will continue. Bunyan

Both, the traditional hub is about 1 1/2"s longer than the hub I received. The Warn's locking hub which locks the spindle to the axle stub is about 1 1/2"s longer than the Dynalok's, which replace the Warn locking hubs. I took pics from the start to finish and when the film is developed, I will post. Bunyan

Update...

Gents, Sunday I will finish the passenger side. I did the drivers side a week or two ago. I did not buy the Dynatrac 35 spline axles do to them having a seal leaking problem with the passenger side. Dynatrac has stopped sales on the axle kit. I did order a one peice axle and seal for the late model 02's. The seal for the 02 is the same seal for the driver side of the 01. The axle is . 020" of an inch larger than where the axle is turned to accept the seal. I do not see any reason this will be a problem. This seal will fit perfectly in the same location as the seal that was used with the two piece axle shaft and CAD system. I took pictures of parts and each step and will have the film developed some time this week. When I get the pics back I will post for all to see. Bunyan
