Does oil have a life span in time?

Does anybody know who can make me a new intercooler (cool side) pipe if I provide the exact specs needed? Its for a 2005 GMC C8500 with a Cat C7.

The fuel system has no priming system. And filter changes and subsequent starting is absolutely impossible without prefilling the fiters... which CAT says is a No-No. Cranking and cranking fills the primary filter but doesn't put a drop in the final 2M filter on the engine. Thus starting is impossible. There is a special schrader type fitting on the filter head CAT shops hook a line to to prime. But I don't have the specialized equipment or fittings.

However I can put a CAT push pull hand primer on it. The filter head has provisions to simply install one... but GMC put the cool side intercooler pipe right up on the engine snaking around everything.

All I need is to make a new one with about a 45 degree bend, cut to the right length and a new 45 degree boot on the intake. It will miss everything, be out of the way, and allow me proper access to the filter hand pump.

I can mount the pump right now. I just cant push-pull it. I could take off the existing intercooler tube each time I change filters... but thats just more hassle over the life of the truck.

WHY WHY WHY are OEM so darned reluctant to put simple hand pumps on new diesel trucks???? I mean... we have to prime the systems somehow and they give owners absolutely no way to do this. The manual says crank until it starts. But thats rediculous. It doesn't do anything.

If you would like 3" stainless I can do that. PM me the specs and I will let you know, by the way I am in NW Ohio, if you are not to far away I could bring some of my stuff and do it on the spot.

Thanks TWorline. I am in the middle of Indiana... but right on the Illinois border. So its too far I'd say. I've been to Van Wert, OH before... but that was like a 4 hour drive or more.

I need to do the exact measuring and I'll PM you and see if we can come up with something. I've also got to get an angle finder and determine the exact boot I need at the final connection.

Do these tubes need flares or ??? at the ends to help retain the boot with the clamp?
