I need some help here and it seems like there is some expertise here.

To be brief, I put a smarty JR on my ride and now after a few hard excel. runs the filter minder is way intoo the yellow. I reset it and did ONE run and it is back in the yellow again. I am running a stock airbox with an Amsoil filter. Seems like I need more air! any suggestions?

The minder is just telling you that when you put a hefty load on the motor, it is creating a high vacuum in the intake tube. There is more vacuum than the filter/box/tube will flow. I have a afe intake on my truck, and my minder sucks down a little bit after a WOT pass, but not near like it did with the stock airbox/filter/tube. Even just a drop-in higher flowing filter and maybe a tube will help a bit.

Downtube.

Checkout the psm intake tube or Home Depot cheaper version. I'm running Smarty sw#1 with either stock filter or Nano drop-in. Filterminder won't budge.

You may want to check out the latest issue of the TDR magazine (TDR 59). On page 130, there is an article written by the owner of PSM about "Understanding Air Intake Systems, Part 2", by Pete Tomka.

He seems to have a lot of good information that may be helpful to you. He had another article in Issue 56, pages 150-156. His systems are cheaper than many of the other aftermarket intake systems, also. Sounds like they function better, also.

I just recently installed an aftermarket intake manifold and then just after that a cold air AFE system. The manifold alone made a difference and then when I replaced the intake there is a very noticable gain. I chose the AFE Blade Runner because a member was nice enough to point out that they were on a very good holiday sale. There is lots of discussion on which manifold is better than the other or that the stock one is just fine. My opinion is that any of the aftermarket manifolds are an improvement.

I wouldn't put a lot of stock in that filter minder, I pulled my filter completely off, just the tq tube, and still pulled mine into the yellow!

Get an intake horn too. Check out the classifieds here on the tdr for the one I have. I have seen noticeable power and mpg improvement with mine.

I did the cold air mod with the toilet flange installed in bottom of stock air box and tube to the front bumper, and I am STILL pulling the filter minder way into the yellow with just a few power runs.

Could it be the Amsoil filter?

Checked it out, spoke with Pete, re-looked at the numbers, ordered it! Oo.

Time to clean the cobwebs outta the ol stock airbox :-laf

FWIW, Iv got An Amsoil dropin on my stock 05, and have never seen the minder move at all.

Curious as to how well or what, the Blade Runner would do for my truck?

Initially my Bladerunner was noticable performance-wise but it became routine after a few miles. Bladerunner, nano and psm = no filterminder movement either. I'm only running sw#1.

I noticed a small performance gain with just the Bladerunner and a clogged stock filter/box. After the AFE filter change and BladeRunner a very noticable performance gain and feel like a small mpg gain as well.

1. get rid of the amsoil air filter, that's problem one.

2. cut a hole in the bottom of your air box and run a metal dryer hose from the hole to just even with the fender skirt, that solved problem two.

3. shouldn't have anymore air intake problems. :)

I have the PSM mod on the stock airbox with Amsoil air filter. Running Smarty Jr on setting 1. Never had the filter minder pull down-There is nothing wrong with the Amsoil filter mine works great in the very dusty high desert country. Plus those filter minder guages are junk!!
