I have an Edge w/Att. now , will a Smarty work long with this or would you have to remove the Edge, to get it to work correctly,, what would be the benefits of having the Smarty as a stand alone unit vs , any disadvantages of having it working in conjuction with the Edge?

Apple; Edge is a fancy monitor with gauges.

Orange; Smarty is a fancy ECM Programmer & scan tool without gauges, no connection to truck after use.

Note to self: engage common sense before I type:-laf. Wasn't sure if smarty or smarty jr. would be a better choice. Thought I read that some smarty settings were not recommended for towing b/c of lower fuel delivery. Could be worng, it has happened before:-laf. Not looking for big gains from my 04. 5. Just a little help when towing. Pretty much stock truck. Thanks!

I think the fuel economy setting is supposed to be bad juju. I have towed on my 2nd gen with the Smarty on fuel economy setting. It gets hot. the higher numbers are better for towing. Keep in mind the original CaTCHer ECM is basically a level 9 Smarty download on a 2nd gen, I have no idea on a HPCR what is what.

I know the differences,, can they be used together?, or would they counteract one another?, or would the smarty as a stand alone unit be better?, I like the Edge because it is all inclusive with guages,, I didn't know if together it might be the best of both worlds ,, or if it would be necessary to get rid of the Edge and replace with a set of guages

Stupid question, where do I buy a Smarty? Can someone give me a phone number or e-mail address. I would love to see if this can help me with better fuel economy.

Well, I am going to take the plunge. I just sold my Predator. I never had any problems with it and it made good power on the upper settings. Stacked well with my ts. The only thing I didn't like about it was the mileage and customer support. The mileage sank 1-1. 5 across the board, and I KNOW that I didn't change my driving habits. The customer service is supposedly scary. Again, I didn't have any issues, but I don't want to be stranded and deal with that!

I'm hoping to get back to just my normal 18mpg. Any improvement would be a bonus. I will be ordering it from DTR's store tomorrow. Can't wait!

I've been too lazy to fill out my sig, I will later, but I basically have stock turbo and injectors, ts box, intake, exhaust, high-ram, transmission. What smarty setting should I run? Mild t/m? That's what comes preloaded, right? Maybe SW5? Anything to suggest? I am not interested in the TNT or anything crazy, as I don't have the supporting mods.

I will ship your smarty tomorrow. I would start out by testing 1, 3 and 5 for fuel mileage testing.

The smarty Sr. is shipped with mild torque management.

Thank you

Cool, I'll be calling you first thing in the morning. The impression that I get from MADS vs the competition is that MADS is actually interested in making the best programs. I think the others do an OK job with the time and resources that they are allowed. But as soon as they get a program that makes power, they call it quits.

I had a chance to work with someone using Calterm. . and we looked into modifying our stock program. There are a bunch of tables to modify/alter and it was overwhelming. We did an ok job and got some extra power, but not a lot. The only thing that we were really successful at was eliminating the torque management through the stall tables. That made a huge difference in low end!

Looking forward to the smarty!

most interested in mileage

I am most interested in mileage and a little power would be nice but is secondary. What do you think the best programmers/chips are for mileage. I see the mileage max by edge, i see some ads from superchips, all say the mileage should improve a bit, but if I can get the optimal mileage with a smarty, or smarty jr. , i would rather do that and get the benefit of a little extra power. Opinions Please!!!!!
