Went to the dealer today for an oil change and after it was done there was a list of things that are "required" to be completed when (if) I go back at 30K. My question is are these required or are they just the dealer trying to make a buck1) Engine Oil Flush $181. 00 (2) Diesel Fuel Injection Service $225. 00 (3) Fuel Filter $102. (I will do this one myself) (4) Service Auto Trans change both filters (4x4) $124. 00 (5) Service Diff frt/rear AAM $328. 00 (6) service Transfer case $46. 00 For a grand total:$990. 00

I tow a 29' TT on occasion, drive to and from work about 20 miles round trip. I could probably do some of them myself, but wanted to know for sure if they are really required. Oo.

Holy Cow! Yes, they are trying to make a buck IMHO!!

1) absolutely not necessary ever
2) your injectors don't need to be serviced at this early of a time
3) $102?????? Just looking at that, you know they are ripping you off elsewhere
4, 5, and 6) I think it is a little early for the transmission, and way too early for the other two.

just my thoughts, but sounds like they are awfully greedy to me.

sounds like high profit margins for the dealer. some of that stuff is a waste of time and money at 30k the rest you should do yourself if ur able.

IMHO, #1 and #2 are total B. S. The remainder are recommended services contained in your owners manual. They all seem to be typical dealership overpriced items. You can save quite a bit by doing most of them yourself since they are just fluid changes. No real cleaning or adjusting except for possibly the auto trans. If you aren't interested in doing any of the work, shop around. You should be able to find someone to do the work for less. Just hang on to receipts showing the work was done for warranty purposes.

You need to get the recommended services done as listed in your manual. You don't have to pay them to do it. Hope this helps.

Numbers 1 and 2 are typical service writer "warranty compliance" tactics. All these do is put profit in the writer's pocket. Total B. S. #@$%!

Did my diff's, transfer case and manual transmission at 30k. The diff's have reusable gaskets. Extremely easy to service. Transfer case is also very easy. There's lots of opinion of lube. I used Valvoline Full Synthetic ATF +4.

For filters look into your local Cummins dealer, Geno's Garage or Napa (wix filters).

yeah the first two are a little out there. but as for the trans and the diffs and transfer case i would have all of those done. the owners manual says to do the diffs at 15,000. but you can do it all yourself very easily.
