Amsoil BMK-11 Install w/ pics

These are the pictures from the install of the BMK-11 by-pass filter I just installed on my truck. The only thing I purchase from Amsoil was the filter, filter mount and billet cap. The hose is Parker Push-Lok #836 Hi-temp, 1/4".

I guess what I don't know/understand about these systems is if/when you have to replace the filter? How do they work? How much was your setup?

From everything I can find you have two options.

#1 change the bypass filter every other oil change.

#2 do oil analysis



The full flow filter must keep up with oil demand, so it cant filter super fine particles out. The bypass filter pulls oil SLOWLY from the system and filters it down to around 1 micron, then returns it to the engine. 3 - 6 micron particles create a lot of damage and a full flow filter (stock) doesn't remove them.



I think the whole system cost me about $170, way cheaper than purchasing a complete package from Amsoil.

The kit cost $174, plus you have to purchase the oil fill cap separately which is $50-$60. So a total of $230 retail, or Im guessing $200 if you are a preferred customer. I really like Parker Push-Lok stuff so I purchased the filter, cap and mount from Amsoil and built the rest myself.
