I am really getting aggravated when every time someone who has DW, folks on these forums always point to BFGs as the only culprit. Selective memories forget that some of these trucks come from the factory completely stock (with E rated tires, by the way) with DW.

Can D rated BFGs cause, or be an exacerbating factor in DW? Yes.

Can other things besides BFG tires cause DW? Yes.

Is it ignorant to point the finger solely at BFGs as the cause for DW? Absolutely. Especially since the original poster said it started at 55K (cue: worn suspension parts, or leveling kit) and after he'd had the tires for 15K.

There's a whole host of components involved in the mix, and tires are just one part of the equation.

There are just too many guys running BFGs WITHOUT problems, me included. By the way, I am on my second set of BFG 315s and have over 50K driven on BFG 315s, KORE (coils, drop blocks, and bump stops) installed by me, stock steering stabilizer, heck, stock everything else save driver's axle u-joint.

I have never had the first hint of DW. You have to fix the PROBLEM, and it may or may not be the tires.
Couldn't have said it any better.

Don't forget to add that stock trucks with the snow plow springs sit level and do not have any other suspension mods! No adjustable track bars, no sway bar lowering brackets, no longer control arms, nothing different except the caster cams turned to 12 o'clock! Sure maybe if the truck is out of whack to start, but why should people with leveling lifts have to install all that stuff?

After installing a leveling lift other than adjusting the caster cams, maybe it would help to loosen up all the rubber suspension bushing mounting bolts and bounce the truck up and down a few times before tightening them back up so the bushings would not have any preload at the new ride height.

Anyhow, regardless of what brand larger tires you run, improving the steering damper makes a lot of sense. Switching to a larger tire moves the tire's mass further from the center of steering axis while the steering arm stays the same length. This gives the tire more leverage which, along with the tire's added weight, will certainly increase the forces on the stock steering damper.

Hey cerberusiam, what do you mean by "... and the axle is offset 1-1. 5 ". Offset how, front to back?

That doesn't add up. I took some crappy measurements of my truck and they should be close enough for the example. Assuming a leveling lift is 2-1/2", the track bar is 39" long and the track bar axle mount is 3" lower than the frame mount on a standard truck, then raising the truck up 2-1/2" moves the axle over about 0. 27". Lifting the truck 4" over stock moves the axle over about 0. 51".

Where does the 1" to 1. 5" come from?

Good question, maybe the alignment guys stretched it a bit on the guess. I get close to 3/4 '' with 3 inch lift on paper in 2 dimensions. Possibly the 3rd dimension is contributing more that I cannot account for accurately.

The axle moves to the side and back when suspension lifts are installed. :)

I kknow right!!

My truck = Stock truck, stock height, stock tires, Didn't matter at all and I still had DW. The tires are only one piece of the puzzle, Thuren has said it many times BFG's are not the whole answer.
