another quick question about the 03 I'm looking at, on the rad core support there is a sticker from a dealer that says computer flash or reflash with a date. What could this have been for? Thanks again.

improvements in the ECM software... hard to tell what exactly for. not a big deal though.....

I think mine has one for when they relocated the fuel pump to the tank. It required a reflash.

On the bottom line of the sticker it will give a reason... ... ... . tsb# or recall number. Not always accurate but a place to start.

Early '03 manual transmission trucks had a reflash for a cruise control issue. Something like CO#3 I believe on the sticker?

The infamous reflash!

If the truck is an 03 HO 6 speed the reflash can be very important to know about. They did mine at 27K miles, the truck was running spectacular, 21. 4mpg at 75mph, the cruise was spot on, it was just what I had wanted. The reflash was for the so called cruise control issue. The truck has never run right since. Been into the dealer 5 or 6 times, for several days at a time. Denver Dodge rep was to come out, which he wouldn't, he knew the program wasn't going to be fixed. I lost mileage, down to 18. 5-19 max, that's over 10% reduction in mileage, and to top it off, the cruise control doesn't work for crap now. Varies 6-7 mph depending on terrain, jerks around going down hill, things it never did before. Knowing ex Dodge diesel mechanics I now know Dodge used the issue to back the HO 6 speed down for reasons other than a cruise control problems, which really was a poor design(no barrier between cancel and resume/accelerate buttons) and operator error(pushed both at the same time). I had the cancel/resume/accelerate thing happen twice before I figured out it was me and my big thumb. I've upgraded with aftermarket for power but the cruise still sucks and 20mpg is now tops. Drive it, if it jerks around going down hill on the cruise and doesn't run like a striped ape from 1400 rpm and boosts at 2000, it's been screwed. Don't waste your $.
