I recently put on an HTT 62/12 on my 95 and towed with it for the first time a couple of weeks ago. The turbo was surging a lot, it wasn't to bad in drive and I could drive around it, but if I went into O/D it was real bad. It is doing it in the 20-25 psi range when running differrent RPM's. I talked to HTT and they recommended checking fuel pressure, it was a little low so I have replaced the lift pump (it had been leaking a little anyway) and the pressure looks good now. Anybody else experience this with a 62/12? Looking for more ideas on what to do.

My new HTT 62/12 also surges horribly. Started towing almost immediately. First time I pulled onto the interstate I thought my truck and trailer were going to fall apart it shook so bad.

Seems to do it worse in lower boost and RPMs. Have to downshift to get it to quit surging. Has anyone come up with a solution? Even empty, the truck shakes very hard when surging.

Seat of the pants power increase has been disappointing. It does spool faster than stock and shows more boost at all times. Doesn't clear all the smoke even at full boost. Have to push it to get over 30 psi. Have to stuff it for several seconds to see over 40 psi. Record boost has been 44. 6 psi. Closest I've come since has been 42.

Is there a cure for the surging? Turbo doesn't seem to light hard until over 14 psi, then jumps to about 27. Spools drastically slower than Laser Bob's II turbo that leaps from 10 or 20 to 50 psi in a fraction of a second.
 
I've got a 62/12 Phat Shaft on my 03. I realize it's a different animal but I've never had a problem with it surging. My previous Piers modified turbo surged all day long while towing.

what is surging?I was planning on gettting that very same turbo(either HTT or SPS) but I don't want to have problems with it.

Both companies told me that turbo would be perfect for my setup.

Should I be rethinking it?
 
This worries me a little. I just ordered a turbo from II same size. There recommendation, My first step toward twins. I was going to go with the 14 housing, but they said I'd need the 12 for the later twin set-up, and it would work for now with my set-up plus DDP4's.
What size is your turbine wheel? Is it the 71? I've heard people had that problem with the HTT 62/71/13 s/s. I think the II SPS has the 71 also, while the II PS is 65...
