I'm picking up my new 4500 C&C tomorrow and would like to hear from you folks what should be on the check list:

- Block heater cord

- Spare tire

- etc... ... ... ... .

A full tank of fuel would be sweet. Maybe they can finance it into the loan.

Oh man that would be nice. They just give you 8 gals. I'll be filling it up soon after driving it off the lot, but 44 gals. to fill it up the rest of the way (52 gals. total), is going to be a tough swallow. But the truck will be at my upfitters for the next 3+ weeks, so I'll drive my old truck this weekend to the dump and back ... and thats it!

You mean they stopped giving you full tanks when you buy now?? Always had a full tank when I took delivery!

Nope, no more. Just 8 gals as outlined on the delivery sheet.

And to boot, we are having a FLIPPING SNOW STORM today. Great, perfect day to pickup my new truck. I was hoping to do some driving on the highways today to help seat in the rings and rearend, but it looks like I'll be slowly inching my way home. The C&C with nothing on the back will be all over the place ... even in 4X4.

It has been stated on the window sticker since I can remember that 8 gals of fuel are included in the price of the vehicle, however many dealers would fill the fuel tank as a courtesy. An extra 44 gals at todays prices may be digging too deep into the dealers profit.

My dealer allows me to buy at invoice and still filled my 52 gallon tank when I took delivery.

Customer service is not gone, just rare.

On edit: I should have mentioned "my dealer" is actually 300 miles from where I live. I happily drive 600 miles round trip to buy from them because I can pick up the phone and call my salesman and tell him what I want to order. Seven or eight weeks later he calls and tells me the truck has arrived. No deposit required, no games, no tricks, just honest straightforward handshake deals.

My actual local dealer is one of the good old fashioned "lie, cheat, and steal" dealerships that I happily drive by, and ignore, everytime I leave my home.

OK, I picked up the truck this morning. I had a list of things to check and everything was in order (they even put in $150 of diesel for me).

And to my supprise when I went in, the took another $1000 off the price with the new March 4500/5500 rebates ... NICE!!!

So, $36,000 our the door, gave them $10,500 and did 5 years on the rest ($505/mth). Not bad, and I have already pre-bought the 11' 3/4 yrd dump body. So I drop her off on Monday and hopfully in 3 - 4 weeks it will be back.

Gotta love the manual windows, manual locks, rubber floor ... stripper truck.

The 6-speed manual is nice, but a little getting use to compaired to my 5-speed.

But I tell ya, my 2003 Jetta TDI could beat this new truck in a race going away (it probably couldn't even beat a 5 year old running a 50 yard dash). But that is not what I bought it for. Can't wait to get some weight on the back soon. These New Hampshire roads with the frost heaves are killers.

OK Griz I'll attempt to post some pitcures.

Nothing special just a regular old ST truck with a fancy 2X4 mud-flap holder tied to the back.

And yes, there is still 2+ feet of snow everywhere.

Nice truck!!! Which dealer did you get it at, Port City?

I bought it at Foss Motors in Exeter. There is a Cummins diesel specialist there named Keith. He is their master tech and has been there since the day I picked up my '97 Ram back in Nov. '96. I would not want anyone but Keith touch this new 6. 7 engine AND he is also their Asin transmission specialist (probably the only one in the area). But I bought the manual transmission cause I can't stand automatics.

Foss gave me a good price and they have always given good service.

My goodness, she's a real looker!

What are you going to use it for? I'd be curious how it looks with the dump bed.

Did I read that right - a 3/4 cubic yard dump bed? Does it have short sides? I know I can fit more than 1 cubic yard in the stock bed.

Been there, done that, and had to drive 40 miles in the snow on my way to Kansas. The snow started just as we started the drive down the Rockies into Denver. My number one worry was the light bed and new brakes, and yes I turned off the EB.

Your 4500 looks great and would like to see the rest of it when its done. The manual windows sure look funny to me. I haven't had those since I got rid of my POS Ford in 92.

Yeah, I've heard good things about them. Good to see some Chrysler dealers are still doing fuel tank fills on deliveries. I know if I'm spending $30,000 plus for a brand new truck, it should come with a full tank of fuel.

Yes, that is what the size of the dump body is 3 - 4 yrds as long as you build up the sides. The dump body is by Air-Flo.

She will be used mainly for personal use (I have plenty of jobs for it). And maybe down the road I will go and get DOT numbers for her if I do some side jobs on the weekends.

Manual windows and locks work EVERY TIME they are tried. It is nice to have a regular key instead of those darn electronic gadgets. If I want another key I just go down to the hardware store and pay $1. 99 for a new one.

I've never had a car/truck with electric windows that I didn't have problems with. Even my Jetta has electric window and door lock problems to the point I could not open the drivers side door except by using the key. I had to pay $300+ dollars for some funky special door latch to fix everything up. But in the winter the window freeze to the frame and rubber and if you hit the down button on the window, the window carrage goes down and the window sticks and you are now out a few hundred dollars to have that fixed.

I just wish they would still make that small vent window. It was great to flick your cigar ash out instead of having to roll down your main window an inch or two all the time.
