Its been a while since anyone posted a problem with the 0299 low boost code from a bigger than stock turbo. is there a fix? has anyone tried to fix the issue? Or have people just learned to live with it??? Towing is a PITA for me and im getting ready to go on a long trip and dont wanna deal with it. I was thinking if we could put in a resistor in line to up the voltage from the MAP sensor to the ECM but what would it do at idle?? I thought Chris? from relentless diesel had a fix for it but never heard alot on it. TIA!

I Have This Happen Every Once In A While - I Get Rid Of It By Turning The Key On And Off And Putting In And Out Of The Key Hole And Starting In Every Couple Of Times - After About 10 Minutes I Can Get The Light To Go Out And Then About A Half Hour A Can Delete The Code With My Little Scanner From Auto Zone - Happens Every 3 - 4 Months - Its A Pain In The *** But Hey - What Can You Do ...

Get a Smarty and clear it when it happens

Yeah thats the problem most people (myself included) Just pull over shut truck off, then clear it with the smarty or BDDL, I dont care about the CEL I know whats causing it but its the half power limp home mode that I cant deal with trying to pull some big mountain with my sled trailer behind it. Im half tempted to put the stock turbo back on just for this trip!

It wont throw the code empty only when Im pulling heavy and mostly cruising down the highway at a sustained speed causing boost to be a few lbs less than with the stock turbo.

That's the exact problem I had with a bigger turbo.

Limp mode and it's a no go, only happens with a trailer in tow.

Ive run a HTT62/14 for 50k have never had the low boost code tow 99 percent of the time (approx 18kgvw) EGT max at 1250 leaning on it hard smarty on level 3 Randy

Edge EZ cures the problem for the 0299 code. Took a while to figure it out, but works perfect on all 04. 5 and above trucks.

it would be nice to fix it for once and for all without spending more $$$ for another tuner - spent enough $$$ and the trucks run's perfect 99% of the time - it should because of who does alot of work on it for me - he does great work , i just wish without spending more money that there was quick fix and or trick to fix it.

????? what? are you sure you know what your talking about? not an OVERBOOST code 0299 is an UNDERBOOST code!

Caused by larger turbos under certain condtions (mainly high load cruising) they run less boost making the ECM think theres a boost leak which puts the ECM into limp mode 1/2 power. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE "WASTEGATE" ITS IN THE MAP SENSOR!!!!!!!!! All the EZ will do is boost fool the map sensor/ECM at high boost levels keeping the CEL from coming on. The problem is at low boost levels.
